STICKY: IC MASS-CONTACT POST FOR GROUPS

CURRENT GROUP OBJECTIVES;
N/A

[ OOC: This post is here to facilitate IC interaction between the organized groups in Asgard. Think of it as an in-character version of this plotting post. Please feel free to use this as much as you need!

How it Works: Think of this like a very basic message board. Each group will have a subject heading in the comments, and only members of that group will be able to see what is in that thread. There is no locking or privating of messages between individual characters in this post. Just like a message board, all characters who have access to a thread will be able to see everything in it. Of course, feel more than free to take conversations to inboxes or logs - we want it to be easy to build CR from this!

This is an alternative to having to send out a dozen IC inbox messages. ICly, this is just a group messaging feature, to kick around ideas and to make communication and CR-building between group members easier.

If you're interested in getting more involved in group things, we recommend that you track the headers relevant to you! As always, if you have any questions, please let us know. ]

[personal profile] bythewaves 2014-11-08 12:21 pm (UTC)(link)
It was often a useful skill, although I confess that knifework was my brother's preferred skill, and I am not so good as they.

[ although admittedly the long Elven hunting knives are closer to daggers or short swords than what most people think of ]

Live as long as I, Davesprite, and you learn all sorts of things. I got very good at war, in my time. But if you wanted to learn, I do not mind teaching.

[personal profile] bythewaves 2014-11-08 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Come and find me and we will see how good your aim is already then, shall we?

It is always a little hard to judge, being born before moon and sun, but roughly some nine thousand three hundred or so, I believe.
feathery: art@??? (what the shit)

[personal profile] feathery 2014-11-08 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
HOLY
ok i admit i wasnt expecting that number to climb over 5 thousand
i guess it shouldnt seem that weird
like where im from there are ghosts in the dream bubbles whove been there for millenia or something
or so the rumor goes
but

and here i was starting to think im getting old
but sure ill come by tomorrow if thats cool in the afternoon
i got to finish up my work shift and then ill be free

[ Somewhere over here, Maglor laughed aloud at Davesprite's reaction - this is always his favourite part about telling people his age ]

For one of my folk, even nine thousand is not that long. My mother lives still, and her father, and my father's father was one of those who were the very first to open their eyes, all the way back in the Beginning. We are the Eldar, whose life is tied to that of the world. So long as it exists, so will we.

I will see you then.

[personal profile] feathery 2014-11-08 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
so you guys are kind of like the gods here then
all magical and sort of hippieish with flowers braided into their hair
i havent seen any of the gods with flowers braided into their hair but you know at least freyr and freya are all over that shit
bythewaves: (golden voice)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2014-11-08 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[ yep still laughing over here ]

Oh no, nothing so powerful as that! We are the Firstborn, but before us there were the Ainur, the Holy Ones - who we call the Valar, the Powers of the World, and the Maia, their servants. They would be closer, I think, to what you are thinking. I am sure milord Freyr would love flowers in his hair - milady Freya as well, perhaps, but I have never asked. We are not... magical, at least, not the way I think you consider it, although we have abilities that may seem like it, I suppose.
feathery: art@askdavechick (shut up and jam)

[personal profile] feathery 2014-11-08 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
could you magic me to death with a sick beat using your own abilities or is that restricted to here
bythewaves: (harp)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2014-11-08 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Not the way I could here, exactly. But yes, I knew enough Songs of Power that I could, perhaps, bring down a tower for example.

[ or put a bunch of people to sleep or fight rap duels with Ultimate Evil. No really ]
feathery: art@spkolala (up away to the sun)

[personal profile] feathery 2014-11-08 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
dude
i think this is a story i need
or at least details on how this story could come to pass

[Maglor just earned +20 cool points.]
bythewaves: (shall I play something)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2014-11-08 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah... well, I suppose the easiest way to explain it is that our world was, the Valar tell us, born from Music. The echo of which is still heard, lingering in the world. If one can learn to hear it, one can... manipulate it, is the best description. I can sing simply the way I do here - to draw you into waking dream is ... we would call that sanwe-latya - thought opening - and does not take power, only skill. Songs of Power are those that tap into the Music itself. My cousins Finrod and Galadriel were far more skilled than I, for they had the better teachers. But I knew enough to disguise myself, to turn eyes away, to break a spell that bound stone to stone... simple things like that.
feathery: art@askturntechsprite (wtf is this shit)

[personal profile] feathery 2014-11-08 01:50 pm (UTC)(link)
ok your world is 50 fucking thousand times infinitely superior to the shitfest that coughed me up
my ability to drop a phat beat only got me some time tricks and i dont even know if thats the part that mattered
i could have just been really good at counting and it probably would have panned out the same
who would have figured i could have taken down a whole damn tower if id just been born an elf
bythewaves: (sing you to sleep)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2014-11-08 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Time tricks, Davesprite?

As to that, not every one of my folk had such skill or power either - as I said, Finrod and Galadriel both had far better teachers! And there is a certain degree of skill involved, of course. But you have enough musical ability that I think you might have been able to learn.

I seem to be meeting a fair few of you in Asgard! Time travellers, I mean. We had no such powers in our world that I know of. Forutnately, or otherwise.

[ the things he could change... ]

I am glad you had a good teacher.

[ ooc: no rush! Am headed to bed |D ]

[What a good idea, David Sprite. She's totally stealing it, now. Expect to find a huge bouquet at the foot of your bed. She's taught them to sing songs you like, to the best of her understanding.]
