[ From all haggard appearance, he's quite hungover. Then again, so's half the city. Jaime slouches, unamused, against the back wall of the stables. Petals tangle in his rumpled hair, and one particularly loud orchid looks to have been actually knotted into place. ]

When we've all recovered, I've two questions. Three, if you feel generous.

Well, aren't you a perfect busybody! [ The orchid snaps, as Jaime casts his eyes skyward, imploring. ] Back in my day, rude little weeds like you didn't just trample all over, making everything their business! Back in my day --

[ Without warning, his hand leaps up to snatch the flower, crumpling around it tight. It wiggles and thrashes in his palm, but Jaime only grips tighter, until at last the struggling quiets. With a wary motion, he slowly lets go. The orchid hangs limp. ]

-- First. Many of us seem to have received a gift. If you will speak of it, I would ask what you received.

My second question is the graver. In your homes, what laws and systems govern men? What actions are crimes, and what measures taken against the criminal?

They ought to call you a criminal! [ Squeaks the orchid, faint and indignant. ] Ruffian! Knave!

Last, will someone help me cut this bloody thing out?

I received a dog. [ a small pause ] Well - a puppy, at this stage.

And law and crime is whatever people want them to be. They decided it by themselves, based on what they believe to be "good and evil" or "right and wrong", even if their morality is nothing but fake. They often use God to justify themselves, too. Punishments are like this too; they can be death, torture, incarceration, monetary or a simple slap on the wrist.

[In answer to the first question, an equally hungover Bucky holds up a well-worn comic book. It doesn't have the little bit about "Captain America's young ally, Bucky", which Bucky himself is eternally thankful for.]

I'm pretty sure someone's sense of humor needs some fixing. I got an entire box of these things. [And what's worse is that they're all copies of just one issue.] You want one? Can't guarantee quality entertainment, but at least you'd get a laugh out of it.

[He puts the comic down, then continues, in a more serious tone:]

There's something called democracy, in my world. Means that it's the public that gets the say in who gets to sit in the White House, and if that guy's shit, they get to kick him out too. [Which is an oversimplification of American politics, but come on, he's not really an expert in that.] For the most part it's a free world, even if democracy's not in place in some countries, but right now? There's a war on 'cause somebody in power decided he wanted more of it.

[Sound familiar? He sighs.]

Anyway, that's not what you're asking about, so--back home, it depends. Stuff like getting drunk and disturbing the peace gets you a night in jail, maybe two, and bigger things get either longer stays or, depending on just how bad or how public it was, an electric chair. Or worse.

[Moving on, he blinks at the flower in Jaime's hand.]

...at least you didn't find one in your sandwich.

The strongest decides. But it's not just in my world this happens.

[ It's really scary the magic flower's being mean to him, Fie, okay!! ]

The assistance would be appreciated. I seem to have misplaced my knife.

[ And doesn't she just sound far too awake to have met the same state of affairs. ]

Yeah, sure. Where are you? And how often do you keep a knife on you?

Aye, if only the monstrous little things died easier. I've no desire to hear my dinner scream. Have you encountered them before?

Pleasant. Had the artist any skill?

[ Jaime doesn't think much of pictures, rare and stiff as they are. They're meant for crests, landscapes, designs -- not people, where the style grows awkward, belaboured, every inch twisted as the knees of a man at prayer. A portrait will never match for memory. ]

Gods be good, what is with this place and drawings. What sort of tree did they grace you with?

[ Now, there's a name he never cared to see here again. They've been doing an admirable job of avoiding each other -- a shame that state of affairs cannot continue, uninterrupted. ]

[ Horns. It must be something near to Nepeta, to the rest he's watched at distance over the network. Whatever the origin of its deformity, knowledge of him here surely bodes ill. He switches the feed to private. ]

[ A great deal of excitement over a cup -- he may not understand it, but from a child, it's almost endearing. ]

Do you actually want an answer to that first part? [ Because rhetorical or not she could give him many reasons. Art is cool ] And I don't know. It wasn't a whole tree.

[ He squints, eyes scattering over the colour before he finally picks out words from the chaos. A...blue knight, punching green. Or was the knight but a guard captain? A well-outfitted one, if so.

Jaime slowly leans back, shaking his head. It's true, he does laugh -- though it's a startled, dismissive thing. There's just too much to take in at once. ]

An entire box of illustrations? I suppose it might be worse, the ink looks very fine.

[ His expression sobers to mull the rest over. The White House, well, there have been stranger names for castles. An electric chair makes a deal less sense. ]

Bite down on one, did you? It sounds not unlike our own system, this 'democracy' aside. Does everyone truly choose the king? It sounds a mess of chaos -- how do they decide, if they are to be rid of him?

[ He wouldn't bristle at words or tone, were it any Westerosi to speak them. That a foreigner -- and such a beastly-looking one as this -- sees fit to press itself in where unwanted sets his own voice sharp with rebuke. ]

Friendship is a two-man bargain; if Arya Stark -- [ Because surely, it can be no other. Sansa's a dull little squit, and Catelyn would make no secret of her feelings for this arrogant stranger. ] -- will not have you for it, then you do yourself both disservice to insist.

The affairs of our world have been settled by those of our world. They do not concern you.
