[Someone's wearing something horrible.. Seriously, with hair that red, something this green was just an abomination that made her look like a demented elf, one with a grimace on its face. There was a cup of something steaming in her hands and she was looking out the window from what looked like her bed. A knee curled up and her wrist was visible. The stone on her bracelet wasn't the same as it should have been. The color was similar to Hel's, but lighter. Anyone in Freya would know it. Anyone who knew Samantha well would also know she'd been asleep for the last several days, unable to be woken.]

Hmmph. unfinished damned business. Story of my life. First sign to know that you're definitely back in this place? Someone plays a magical prank on you and shoves you in this thing. Thanks, whoever you are. I needed that right now. Really. Probably Loki.

[She sighed and reached up to pinch her nose before taking a sip from her cup and wincing in annoyance. One of her blood red eyes glanced out of the corner at the feed.]

If anyone was worried, I'm sorry. Seems Freya thought I needed to see something, or maybe I actually was there... Fuck, I don't know. Least it didn't actually all blow up. I'll... pass on doing that again, especially not if what I'm going to find out was that Henry was actually right about something. [She spat to the side, out the window.]

Screw it. I've got work that needs doing, and I've apparently got entirely too much unfinished. Damned demons. There's some research I'm going to be starting tomorrow, and I need something from Utgard to finish it. Right. I'll be back in a while. Please, the lot of you, try not to destroy this damned city while I'm gone. If you need me, now's the time.

Research in Utgard? Entailing what, if I may ask?

Potions work. I've got bubbling projects that won't finish themselves without the supplies I need. I can't wait for the next train. Soon as the snow's done, I'm out.

[Total bullshit. She's going to Muspelheim, but it was a convenient smokescreen. She'd left herself notes in her house in case something like this happened. They'd helped get her head wrapped around what she'd been doing. It was still a bit of a jumble.

So how many'd you off before you were feeling better?

[She wasn't going to comment on the fact that he clearly still watched her video feeds from time to time. It just didn't seem... necessary.]

Nobody. The impulse was only murderous because of something else making it worse in me. It's related to an instinct to feed. I just started nibbling is all.

['Nibbling' might have been the under-statement of the year. A few of her partners had been less... durable than others, and had barely come out of their encounters alive. She'd had to learn to be choosy about that.]

Geez, that was one impressive hunger, if it was making you wanna kill folk. How many bites did it take? Did ya leave people all chewed up and bloody?

[She snorted. Predictable. He was getting fascinated with the process again. Well, why not ruin some of his gory fun.]

Only the masochists. I'm not a vampire. I drain life force from them in a kiss, usually in the middle of ... other things. Sometimes it got a little rough.

And when your father jacks your hormones to dangerous levels, yes. It's a violent, twisted hunger that becomes a craving for anything it wants at that instant. No matter what. Sating the urge weakens it. Gets it out of the system.

So you bit people's mouths off? Awesome! Even I've never gone THAT far.

[The laughter's probably expected too, by now, but it's still friendly.]

But hey, it all worked out, huh? You got to have a whole bunch of fun, and I bet you feel great for it.

Seriously, Henry. There's something wrong with you. Think Freya's power, the draining kiss, only it helps feed me. [The irony that she'd gone from body control to that was not lost on her, though she was less inclined to complain.]

I feel better. Not great. Better, and that doesn't excuse you for your part in ... that time. I still don't trust you, Henry.

So no biting? Or tearing or ripping? [This is the important detail, okay.]

Sometimes 'better' is all you get! But yay! I'm glad it helped~ Though I don't really get why you don't trust me. I've never lied about anything in my life. Sure, I let your crazy side out, but I never said I WOULDN'T.

No biting unless they wanted it... definitely no ripping. Jeeze... why would I do that to someone I'm fucking? No, really. Why? That other side of me couldn't stop from breaking someone it was playing with, but I'm not certifiably insane.

And you didn't help. [She growled.] This happened in my world. I didn't even remember what you'd done. What you did was foolish and irresponsible, just like trying to cage the beast completely was dumb of me. I'm a predator. I can't 'just' live on veggies and fruit all my life. Pretending I was anything else was stupid.

But unleashing a piranha in a feeding frenzy into a fish hatchery just to watch the blood isn't helpful. It's insane. You're insane.

Dunno, if you felt like it? Do you really need a reason?

[He shrugs, shaking his head.]

Mm, I mean I'm glad that whatever happened in your world helped! You were- from how you're talking, it sounds like you were sent home for a bit, yeah? And learned something useful?

And I know, I know- you've told me! Repeatedly. [A brighter smile, but at least he holds back on laughing again.] Bet you'll tell me again too, sometime.

I like to have reasons for random amputations. [She gave a sour grunt. He might have noticed that she seemed more 'able' to speak to him without threatening bodily harm. She was remembering how much she hated him, but that sort of response seemed... less right now.]

I learned that everything in this world comes with a price tag, and that if you don't know the price beforehand, you need to be careful what you try to do.

And I probably won't. There's no need.

A reason beyond 'it's really fun'? And the random part is great! No one knows what to expect! Should they be hiding their ears, their throats, a hand or two? I like variety~

[And he does notice that she's been less forthcoming with the death threats, though the grumpiness is at least familiar. Part of him wonders if that is her equivalent of a good mood.]

So you got yourself out of debt?

And it's okay if you do! I don't mind.

I don't find that fun. Maybe that other part of me did, but there was something broken and perverse about that, like a drug addict high on themselves.

[She's always a little surly, though she was more or less in a good mood before being brought back here. Cynicism, however, was a cloak she'd long robed herself in.]

Deeper in, but I've debts to repay here first it seems.

I guess so! It still feels pretty great, though.

But what kinda debts? You don't really seem the type to be careless with her finances!

That's you, and that's why I don't really want anything to do with you, even if I can't completely avoid you. [She gave him a hard look.] Not financial debts, but that's all you get to know. They aren't here, and they don't matter here.

Geez, it's not like I'm catching. Just hanging out isn't gonna make you any more like me. And we're neighbors!

[He smiles back at the look, the expression steady enough to be a permanent one.]

But your secrets are your own. Buuut if you need someone murdered to get 'em off your back about debts, just lemme know!

I can handle my own fights, Henry. [She frowned.] And please don't remind me that we're neighbors. I try not to think about that much.

[Seeing Samantha up and about and well is enough to make him smile. He's pleased, relieved if he's honest but this might just be the first time he's tried to make contact since then, and-- well. It should be weird...

He's unable to reply by video for some strange reason.]

[So, that totally happened for her not but a few days ago... and at the same time, that totally happened to someone she'd forgotten existed back almost a year and change ago. She's kissed a fairly large number of people since then, so she's having a little trouble remembering completely why she was awkward around this one.

...well other than joking that Naruto was gay for Sasuke. She offered him a faintly smug smirk.]

Yeah. I think she wanted to prove a point. It's proven, either way. I belong here more than Hel house... at least now.

[She's not taking to teasing him-- and he has to wonder how much she remembers if she's been asleep.

Loki had forgotten everything when he got back. Which was sad. If Sam forgot too, he thinks he'd be upset by that too.

She's got that smug look on her face though.]

Yeah? Hel's kinda creepy. I like this place.

[Nope. She remembered everything. But, it was like the little demons in her head were scrambling to get the filing cabinets back in order, while having a conga line during the office Christmas party. The tea she was sipping wasn't doing a great job of calming her nerves, but it wasn't hurting either.]

Freya's better than Hel. Hel, and it's like she wants to remind me how many times I died. Freya... well, and it reminds me of my mother. I'll take Freya over Hel.

[Yep, that filing cabinet slotted that one back in, right about then.]
