[Video] [Action for those in Freya's kitchen.]
[Gene has his arms completely stuffed with various items from the fridge and pantry, which he carefully lays out on every flat surface he can find. Plates and glasses next, along with a few things to drink and some very LARGE bottles of varying kinds of alcohols.]
Alright, let's see...Ah! Perfect. Guess I'll start by making up a big pot of stamina stew for people.
[He continues absently talking to himself as he goes over various menu options.]
Guess it would help if I knew how to cook anything besides eggs. Well, no harm in a little experimentation, right?
[A bunch of pre-chopped veggies and meats are unceremoniously dumped into a pot of water and broth, then set to boil. He's clearly just adding spices and ingredients on a whim.]
Alright, let's get down to brass tacks, shall we? We're in trouble. We all get that through our heads pretty soon after we get here, and I understand how some of you are having issues with that. I'm extending this to anyone in Freya House who has difficulty wrapping their heads around the fact that we're basically in a constant state of war with a bunch of testy giants. An opportunity to sit and talk with a guy who's already been through the wringer.
See, I'm an Outlaw. That means a freelancer with no real loyalties, back in my section of the galaxy. We do what we have to, to survive. It's dangerous all the time. Your engineer misses a bolt or leaves an electric lead open, a bullet hits your air supply, an errant bit of debris opens a hole in the hull, and you're nothing but a corpse drifting in space. It's that easy. Space is not a place with a high margin of error.
[A bottle of wine is popped open and set out.]
I was dead once. Well...trapped between life and death, I guess. It ain't fun. I had to wrestle with that for a while. This kinda' thing shakes you up, you know? All we have here to rely on is the people around us, so enjoy their presence. Come on down. Talk. Drink. Eat to excess. Be thankful for the small bits of good fortune we have, because none of us are guaranteed tomorrow.
...Also, if anyone wants to show me how to actually cook, that'd be nice. I can't make heads or tails of some of these cookbooks.

I can help you make something, but... [She stops.] There's a fight still going. You should make something easy to take with you.
[There's a few questions she wants to ask, but a better time maybe.]

What are you putting in the stew?

You can't put everything in. What if they don't taste good together?

Listen carefully, okay? [This lecture starts off in the way only a lecture from a twelve year old could--very bossily.] When you cook for a lot of people, you have to cook things that they like, too! It's like cooking for your family.

[Sometimes you eat whatever's there to survive. Or just out of convenience.]

What if nobody else likes it? Are you going to eat it all by yourself?

[She tilts her head, looking at him curiously.]
How come you want to stick with just using anything? Didn't you want to learn from the cookbooks?

It would probably help if you attempted to actually try and read them.
[She might not be a world class chef, but she can do simple things. And she's gotten better at cooking since she's gotten to Asgard and learned to fend for herself instead of having someone from the village cooking for her and her brothers. Gaara would be proud if she managed to let her brother know how far she was progressing or she felt it was a fact she should bother him with.]

Okay! I think there's some in the kitchen here...oh, we can check the welcome hall kitchens, too!
Re: [Action]
[Gene stops mid-sentence as he looks up from his work, a light dusting of flower on his face. He immediately rushes to the sink, washing off his face and hands before racing back and assuming a casual pose.]
Guess I haven't met you, yet. So what's your name? Gene Starwind, at your service.

My name is Temari. And I have been here for a few months yet. Working by instinct is all well and good, so long as you have the knowledge to back it up. Sadly, the smell coming from that pot tells me that you don't.

You are...
Temari sighs and crosses her arms under her breasts as she glares contemptuously at you, Gene.]
Your logic is faulty in the face of reality. That pot is emitting a horrid smell and I can only imagine that the taste is worse. If you're so sure that it would taste good, I suggest you taste the broth first.
Re: [Action]
[He goes to the pot indignantly, raising a ladle to make sure she sees it. He makes a great show of lowering it into the pot and raising it back up to take a sip.]
...
[Gene says nothing and does nothing for what seems like an eternity, then slowly picks up the pot, walks to the window, and dumps it all outside.]
Clearly someone has tampered with my recipe.
Re: [Video]

This time.]
Clearly.
Perhaps next time you should exercise some caution to make sure it doesn't happen again.

We only have a little here but I can take some from the welcome hall for you.
