Quite likely. It's much easier to find your feet here if there are people you know, or at least people to rely on.

[ There we are - time to pour the cocoa into a mug and put a few biscuits on a little plate, then turn and place both on the table. ]

There we are, cocoa and biscuits.

Grown-ups can get very lonely indeed, the Doctor more than most. He's so very very old, even though he doesn't look it, and he's lost so much. He'd just be a lonely old man rattling about the universe alone without people to care about, you included.
