[Claire, being someone with a lot of common sense, manages to switch on the voice feed after a while of tinkering with his bracelet. He's very careful to avoid the video button, as his suit is caked in blood at the moment and that would probably irk some people. Take notice of his Brooklyn accent and how ugly it is:] Hey! Wow! It actually works! No kiddin' -- and here I thought this was just a woman's piece of jewelry. It must take impressive intelligence to fit this kind of technology into somethin' so tiny. I wonder if they were goin' for the feminine thing. [There's a long pause, and only footsteps can be heard before he speaks again.]

You know, I would've imagined Heaven to be a lot less grey than it actually is. Then again I don't have that great of an imagination, so I never really thought about what kind of colour it'd be. Gotta say, though, at least it's a change from what I'm used to, which I figure is the point.

Anyhow, everybody here uses this thing to communicate, is that right? That might make things a little more convenient for me, then, as I'm looking for somebody. We had originally arranged to meet in Manhattan, but it looks like things aren't necessarily goin' as planned.

Well, if you're listening Chane, here I am. And if you're not listening, then I'll just have to take initiative and do somethin' different, won't I?

[The feed cuts off just as Claire enters the Baldr house. He's in desperate need of a shower and if he's supposed to be living here, he mostly will have access to one. He smells like entrails even after rinsing off in the river he had jumped into, which might attract some attention?]

Everyone needs a vacation, sometime. It's all the more convenient when it comes to us, wouldn't you say? Life can become so repetitive.

I believe life becomes repetitive once you get lazy and life changes only when you make it change. Makes sense, don't it?

Seems simple enough. Did you make this particular change in your life happen, then?

I think that'd be a given, considerin' what I just said. I suppose that's probably somethin' only I'm certain of, unlike the rest that find themselves here.

I am. And I must say, I envy that certainty. You must be the only person who came here willingly. [ Johan pauses curiously. ]

The person you're looking for -- do you worry they will think you forgot about your arrangement?

You don't have to beat around the bush, you know. That makes communication more complicated than it should be. If you don't believe what I believe to be true, you should be more straightforward.

To be honest, that's not too much of a concern of mine, since I'm sure they'll turn up here eventually, along with the others I was supposed to meet in Manhattan.

I think the bracelet is rather fetching, personally!

Well, I suppose the reason why you like it so much is because you're a woman yourself. I don't mean any offense, I hope you know! Purple just isn't much of my colour.

[Hellooo pretty lady. Claire runs his fingers through his dampened hair, shrugging bashfully, obviously embarrassed to be caught in such an unattractive condition.]

I thought I'd run into somebody who noticed sooner or later... You wouldn't mind directing me to the nearest shower, would you? [He pulls at his coat, uncomfortable with how the wet material is clinging to him. Oh... and his clothes are stained with blood. Looks like he won't be able to lay low much while being here.]

Well, yes, not just anyone can pull off purple! Perhaps you could ask to have it swapped out for another color?

Oh, I'm sure I could find you one. But it won't wash the stench off your soul, now will it?

[She's not actually chastising him though, she's merely amused.]

You think I could? While I am partial to the colour red more, I don't think it would make much of a difference. It does its job, after all!

Oh... speakin' of purple, how did you get your hair to look like that? I thought my hair was a pretty rare colour! It couldn't be a wig, could it?

[ Hmmm. ]

Forgive me, I thought it polite. Besides, this has all been a rather unexpected turn of events for me. What do I really know about what is truth and what isn't?

[She's not dumb, that much is obvious, but at the same time, she's not put off? He definitely won't ignore that, but he continues on casually.]

Well, as long as I can't smell it, there's not much of a problem, is there? If I can't see it or smell it or touch it, then it just doesn't exist. It's as simple as that.

What you perceive now is real, however. And it don't bother you?

Whatever do you mean? It's always been this color!

Whether you feel as though you're indulging somebody or not, lying, I think, is pretty rude on its own. Wouldn't you agree?

You must be a pretty insecure fellow, to doubt yourself so much that you worry about things like that. Truth, that is.

[She smirks and gives her hair a dramatic flip.]

Bother me? Tell me, how many corpses do you think a lady like me has trampled over?

I didn't mean to imply anythin'! Where I'm from, it's just not a common thing.

It does look very pretty, however. The bracelet, I'd imagine, suits you.

I do, but not many are capable of living purely honest lives and having it work in their favour. The truth can get you fired, trampled, killed...

And so, I apologize. I honestly do not believe you had much of a choice in coming here, despite your strong conviction.

[ Will ignore the insecure part. No point in getting involved in defenses or aggressions at the moment. ]

You think so? You might be speakin' from your own personal experience, but from what I know of my reality, it just doesn't exist for me.

[He gives his bangs a flip, though it's not dramatic... they're just in his eye.]

You're pretty bold, to be so upfront about what exactly you are. Tell me, what's your profession?

Oh, well, thank you! [she'll hold the bracelet up so it can be seen in the video] It is a bit ... simple, for my tastes, but I suppose that means it goes with everything!

I don't think the world of origin matters with this kind of thing. Darkness, monstrosity...t's not a matter of the occult--that doesn't even exist in my world.

[She turns her gaze to the side playfully.]

Hmmm, I wonder. You're quick to assume I have a profession at all, aren't you? Heh.

...My group does a variety of things. Dirty work for those who want to be able to claim that there won't be any grime left when they wash their hands.

That's what the weak always concern themselves with, it's always about success and never about honesty. Bein' weak is what drives a person to be wedged between a rock and a hard place. If you have no power over your own situation and willingly give your life to others, you might as well be dead. There's no winnin' when you become so dependent.

Simple? You must be a pretty high-end, classy lady. ... Hey. Come to think of it, the person I was gonna meet back in Manhattan is a lady herself. You wouldn't mind givin' me some tips, would you? I wouldn't say I'm very experienced with stuff like this, so some help would be appreciated.

... She kinda has a purple tinge to hair, too, now that I think about it, too!
