[ On the Network today is an anonymous post, with what appears to be a transcribed fairy tale. How interesting... and random. ]

The God of Peace is always busy.
He is too busy to look in a mirror, and blows his horn every day.
The God of Peace's horn makes everyone happy.

The God of Peace is always busy.
He is too busy to look in a mirror, and pours his magical water.
The magical water creates green mountains, ripens crops, and makes flower gardens grow.

The God of Peace is always busy.
He is too busy to look in a mirror, and gives everyone a name.
"Your name is Otto. Your name is Hans. Your name is Thomas. Your name is Johan."
Johan gave his hat to the god as a gift in return.

The god was very happy.
Because he wanted to see himself wearing the hat, he stood in front of a mirror for the first time.
However, what he saw in the mirror was a demon. From inside the mirror, the demon spoke to him. "I am you, and you are me."

"Oh no! No one can live in peace with a demon like this! What should I do?"

So the troubled god ...

Tell me. How does the story end?

It's easy enough not to notice things you don't expect to be there, isn't it? Convince yourself it's not something you need to look for and you just don't.

Next time.

Do you have any stories to share?

If he subconsciously tried to convince himself that the demon wasn't there, can he ever really learn to cope with the truth?

Aww. But okay!

And are you suuure you want that? I'm not a good storyteller and I don't know anything about putting in moral lessons or stuff.

I want to know, if you're willing to tell me.

Theoretically? I mean, I know some really don't get over the shock of that sort of thing, but nothing really says he couldn't.

What if he couldn't control the demon?
averagemedium: (no break no relief)

[personal profile] averagemedium 2013-09-02 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
If he couldn't control it then why wouldn't the demon have done anything before then?
necrowmantic: (let’s organize before they rise)

Hey, I'll give it a shot.

So there was this boy, who was completely despised by his parents. He didn't know why, and they didn't care to tell him, but that's not really the point. But. In the end they got rid of him, sent him away to an orphanage, and for them that was the end of it.

But not for him! Still despised and despising, the boy didn't have any better of a time with his new guardians. They were cruel to all of the kids, and the kids learned from it and were as cruel to each other.

Still, the boy wasn't alone. He loved animals, and told all the little birds that visited the yard his troubles, really poured his heart out to them. Unfortunately, he was overheard! The other kids, seeing the opportunity for a bit of mischief, murdered all of the little birds, strangled and left their bloody corpses in his bed. He cried. He was sadder then than he'd been when his parents had left.

But it worked out. The next day, half of the other kids never woke up, their little necks strangled and broken. But the boy's hands were far too weak to manage that kind of feat! So how'd it happen?

It wanted to hide.

In that case? If he couldn't control it, best he could do is probably just try to fix whatever it hurt. Try to balance it out, and all.

[personal profile] notnina 2013-09-02 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
And if the demon brought death, how would he do that?
averagemedium: (i'm barely clinging to hope)

[personal profile] averagemedium 2013-09-02 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
Find ways to make it harder for it to kill, maybe? ...I'm sure there'd be options.
notnina: (* 2)

[personal profile] notnina 2013-09-02 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
But there would be no way to restore the life already lost.
averagemedium: (when the morning comes)

[personal profile] averagemedium 2013-09-02 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
There never is. It just... seems like it'd be a shame to lose all the good he did as well, if they were both killed instead.
notnina: (* 3)

[personal profile] notnina 2013-09-02 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
He had help.
necrowmantic: (you'll do anything to keep it that way)

[personal profile] necrowmantic 2013-09-02 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
Only in the dead.
notnina: (* 14)

[personal profile] notnina 2013-09-02 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
How did he decide which half he would spare?
notnina: (* 12)

[personal profile] notnina 2013-09-02 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't that count as one final good deed?
averagemedium: (i'm barely clinging to hope)

[personal profile] averagemedium 2013-09-02 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
If nothing else worked, it might. Death's more a last resort.
necrowmantic: (102)

[personal profile] necrowmantic 2013-09-02 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
He didn't, he only ran out of birds.

Even then, the boy was pretty good with magic. Casting curses. But most of them required a sacrifice, especially if you wanted it to be fatal. Sacrifices that were delivered thoughtfully right to his mat.
notnina: (* 6)

[personal profile] notnina 2013-09-02 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
And you claimed you weren't a good storyteller.
notnina: (* 11)

[personal profile] notnina 2013-09-02 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
How long should he wait until he uses that resort?
averagemedium: (so why's there no peace)

[personal profile] averagemedium 2013-09-02 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
However long it takes to be sure there's no other way. ...with allowances made for how high the toll is. If this is something like the demon wiping out towns I'd say that merits coming to a much quicker decision.

Is there a certain number?
