[nevy is... adjusting. she still keeps to herself and gil's company overwhelmingly, but asgard isn't as bad as she originally, fantastically, believed it to be, and sometimes she even goes outside on her own.

today she's by herself in her apartment. gil's off somewhere, and she spends the day puttering around, reading, cleaning, practising floating around. she finishes sweeping the floor and tosses the dust in the trashbin, and then she fills a small bucket with some water and cleans the windows and the counter and the floor. nevy is on her way to carry it into the bathroom to dump out the dirty water into the tub, but her underhand toss is interrupted by a high pitched screech when the water crashes over not limestained ceramic, but a long, dark body.

half the water ends up on the floor as the bucket clatters to the ground with a loud sound. nevy tucks her knees up and hovers, but she loses control of the power a second later and crashes to the ground. she doesn't have time to get up, because there are two clawed feet on the edge of the tub and beady eyes staring at her.

she fumbles the bracelet on as she scrambles back across the room, the slithery black creature hissing at her as it squirms out of the tub and oozes across the floor toward her.]

Help, oh, for the love of Titan, someone! There's a monster in my bathroom, and it's-- [her sentence is cut off as she grabs a book to hurl it at the creature and then promptly hides her face behind her hands. the feed promptly goes dead.]

[Thank goodness nothing awkward is going on - he and Oswin are just having a chat when Pyro hears the crashing and hissing and screaming from the bathroom.]

Oh shit. [He looks at her, more amused than concerned.] I think my roommate just met the basilisk.

[He leads the way to the door that connects to the bathroom, pulling it open and blinking at the figure he sees there. No weirder than some mutants he's seen before, so it's a blink and nothing more before he focusses on his "pet."]

You being an asshole again? This one's on the no-kill list too, got it?

[Nevy looks up in alarm at the two newcomers, whimpering and inching further away from the basilisk, which is now a scant three feet away from her.]

Is this yours? [she demands, though it doesn't sound very intimidating at all.]

It's a long story. [He sighs, rolling his eyes at Oswin.]

I am controlling it. It's not killing her, is it? Anyway, would you rather have it in with us?

[But he does cross to put himself between Nevy and the basilisk, staring down at it with pure hatred in his eyes.]

Back off, or I give you back to the trolls. Hell, why wait when I could kill you myself? [He stuffs a hand into his pocket and pulls out a switchknife, flicking it open; at that, the basilisk finally starts to back off, still letting out baleful little hisses.]

[Oswin shudders at the thing as it slinks away, carefully making sure it doesn't touch her feet.]

I'd rather not have it in with anyone! Let it into the woods!

[She crosses her arms in front of her chest and looks at Nevy.]

He didn't mention a roommate. Sorry about that.

[Wide-eyed, Nevy blinks at her, and then at John.] You're the person who lives on the other side of that door?

Why was that thing in the bathtub? [Her voice shrieks a little.]

Chill out, alright? It's not hurting anyone while I'm around, so stop screaming.

[He follows it with his eyes as it slinks back into the bathtub, still staring out at them with far too much intelligence in its eyes.]

I get sick of it sometimes, so I kick it in here. No one's complained yet.

[Oswin glares at the thing before turning to glare at John.]

Well, you're not always around, are you? If I'd known she was living there I... Okay, I'd still shove it in there but at least you should have warned her.

I don't want a monster in my bathtub! That's ridiculously unsanitary! What if it has diseases? What if it has little parasites that get onto the towels and infect me?

[She wrings her hands, distraught at the thought.]

[At John's words, Nevy can't help but eep! in horror. Even if it's already walked away, now she's thinking about it.

Oswin's words are comforting and she looks at her, mouth drawn up in a pout.] Are you sure? Maybe it affects your species differently.

[He lets out a little snort. How did such a delicate little thing end up in Baldr, anyway?

And then Oswin gets a glare for the elbow, although he appreciates her doing damage control. He would've just rolled his eyes and walked away ages ago, and probably had this chick haranguing him every damn day about parasites in the bathtub as a result.]

Look, that's what healers are for. You get sick, they fix you. And I'm pretty sure lizards aren't known for carrying parasites anyway.

[Oswin quickly steps in front of John, cutting him off as soon as possible.]

Look, dunno what species you are, but I do know that I catch pretty much every bug that goes around and I've been fine with the lizard.

[No, it's not her. Though there's something about the strange girl that reminds Eridan of his ex-best friend. Maybe the magenta, or the horns, or her hair that is too familiar. He frowns, blinking at the creature sliming its way across her floor.]

[Well, that slithery lizard thing looks familiar.]

[The other woman might have cut him off but Nevy's hackles have raised anyway.] That's not true! Reptiles and amphibians carry all sorts of nasty parasites! Gil learned all about it and he told me, they're so gross. They get in between their scales and suck their blood and-- [She shudders, because ew.]
