[Sam has actually been back in Asgard for a few hours. It's taken him that much to wander around and get his bearings -- and, as such, he has found himself in the library, where he spent much of his time when he was first here.

He figures it's a good place for people to know and find him, should anyone want to talk to him.

-- or something.

He offers his bracelet a warm, but tired smile -- kind of like he's just run a marathon without more than a few pauses to catch his breath. Still, Sam seems to be in good spirits, and it shows in his tone.]

Anyone volunteering information?

[We'll see who is still here and who isn't.]

[Man, these past couple days are just full of people-coming-back-surprises.]

Sam! D - do you remember being here??

I remember getting here and being annoyed that the Apocalypse still isn't here yet.

[Seriously, Gods, Lucifer and Michael had this shit on lock after six months.]

[That's so reassuring.] So many people are coming back..... [Maybe Kaz and Vanitas and Senji will too...!]

Oh - but um, that whole end of the world shit happened. Kind of? There was a battle and Freyr blew himself up so it turned into a stalemate, and then a bunch of us got back from this shitty town near the ocean to get more answers.

How does the world 'kind of' end, Euri?

[It's said with a slight tone of exasperation, but Sam refocuses on the information she's given him.]

What town near the ocean? Another place besides Utgard opened up beyond the gate?

It was going to, and then it suddenly didn't because of Freyr. [She is really not good at this apocalypse stuff.]

Yeah! There's a floating train you take to get there. It's called Salt Side. A lot of mermaids live there.

[Castiel is just going to go find her friend.

He isn't entirely certain about this course of action, because he didn't have a chance to speak with Sam after everything had happened. He's pretty sure his friend will understand, particularly with how close they had been here, but he doesn't really look forward to the explanation.

Still, he tracks Sam down at the library--he'd been heading that way anyway, as it's a familiar location--with the duffel bag still in his arms. It isn't hard to find Sam, considering he towers over the bookcases, and he steps into sight with a small nod.]

Sam.

[Sam knew Castiel was here, but he had sort of been hoping the angel would track him down. It would be a good barometer on whether or not things were back to the way they were when they were in Asgard, rather than their own world, where he and Dean had absolutely no idea what was going on with their old friend.

So when Sam sees Castiel, it's something of a relief, because maybe he's back to normal -- but the dufflebag and how the angel appears to him makes Sam frown to himself -- and how he carries himself, how he no longer looks so small and skittish and instead looks pretty damn confident in himself.

Sam guesses it's a good thing, but instead of letting it go, as he had in their world, he feels frustrated.

He has a massive headache.]

What in the hell is going on?

[He doesn't mean to sound so snappish, but seriously, what in the hell was going on.]

Yeah, mermaids. They aren't really like typical mermaids, though..

Are they on our side or are they on ...

[The Gods' side, the Giants' side, the -- Sam doesn't even know anymore.

He has such a headache.]

[Castiel had been pretty sure Sam was from close to his time simply by his appearance, but he hadn't been sure of exactly when. Now it's pretty clear; Sam doesn't seem surprised to see him, so they've probably already spokean again in their world. And considering last time they were here they were only minutes apart, it isn't too much of a stretch to guess that they are likely close in time once again.]

I presume you mean at home.

Sam -- [ There are going to be tears. It's going to happen. They're welling up in her eyes right now. Emotions are a pretty intense thing to handle when they're like this. But he probably doesn't even remember who she is... Or know in the first place. ]

You know what I'm talking about.

[It's said sharply.]

You disappeared after we busted Samandriel out of Crowley's torture den, for months, without having any idea where you are -- and then you show up again on a demon killing rampage which mysteriously leaves out Meg which we aren't going to talk about -- and then whenever we try to ask you why you're acting bizarre, you just ignore us and leave, and then you take off with the stupid angel tablet that we almost died trying to get?

[Sam sucks in a breath to get his calm, which ends in a slight cough into his sleeve -- but the hunter ignores it, continuing to speak.]

Tell me what the hell is going on.

[There's no option.]

But -- I'm Buffy. If you don't remember. We um -- we knew each other. When you were here before. [ She has so little faith in his remembering her that she's just going to be consumed with horrible she-manpain for the time being. ]

[Castiel is silent for the rant, frowning a little, but he understands Sam's irritation and confusion. He would feel the same way, and he gives a short sigh; some of his new confidence deflates just a little and he looks briefly tired before drawing himself back up again. The answer is just one sentence, to begin with.]

I was being controlled.

[There's a silence as Sam stares.]

That's it. I was being controlled.

[It's borderline incredulous.]

No story or background or explanation. Seriously.

[They're coming back. That thought just repeats in his head. They're coming back. So maybe they'll get lucky, maybe Peeta will be next. And Raven. And Mary. And all those people he's loved - and lost.]

Sam - it is good to see you back. What information do you wish to have?

[Lancelot gets a proper grin.]

It's good to see you, Lancelot.

[Just as a consideration, to prove he remembers.]

How long have I been gone?

So -- welcome back, I guess? Latest info involves a deep-sea trip to try to save one of the Gods here. Freyr. There's a whole long story with it.

[ And now she has to like run off somewhere and cry or something because this hurts so much ]

[A spark of Castiel's temper flashes at that, and his next response is cold.]

I was pulled from Purgatory for the purpose of being someone's weapon. She forced me to spy on you and Dean, to kill my brother, to attempt to-

[And he stops, frustrated, eyes dark.]

Forgive me for my lack of desire to explain every detail to you.

[And Sam allows himself a huff of laughter before he settles back into his chair.]

Well, you could tell me where to start apologizing, because I think I might've stood up this girl I know a couple of times, but if it's any consolation, it was to save the world.

[And it's good to be remembered, his smile turns easier when he's acknowledged.]

It has been about a month.

[There's a long silence as Sam's features soften from irritation to understanding -- and he holds up his hands slightly, to surrender.]

Alright, calm down. I'm sorry.

[It's quiet.]

Whoever it is, they're not here, so it's not like she's controlling you anymore.
