That tournament... It wasn't just the other day, was it?

[Because she remembers that, quite clearly. Remembers the shocked surprise of actually winning. After that ... It's sort of a haze. A grey sort of haze. And that kind of ... worries her.]

No, that was a few days ago. [Pause.] Is that the last thing you remember?

[U m.]

Yeah.. I swear it was yesterday.

The beginning was over a week ago.

Oh.

[No really. Oh.]

I think my bracelet came off for a while.

I think you went grey.

[ Someone doesn't seem happy about stuff, but hey, he's glad not everyone's leaving all at once. ]

[Thanks for spelling it out, hereditary!captain of obvious.]

I think so, too. [Which is weird. She didn't remember taking her bracelet off.]

Did I miss anything?

[ You're welcome, Roes. ]

Um...no, not much. [ Liar. ] Amy left.

[Terrible liar.]

... Oh. I'm sorry.

Well.

[A bit of a pause.]

Do you remember anything about being grey? [Sorry she's curious.]

[ Amy's gone.

That just changes everything. Amy's gone, gone gone gone, his and Rose isn't his but Amy's gone and what else does he have then? Rory and the TARDIS, yes, but nothing can really replace Amy. Rose can't either, but she was the first face Ten saw, the first companion of Nine. She's been first too and it's the closest he can get.

She's not his but Ten isn't here, and that's the best he can do. He wants to remind himself of who he does have here, and he's so glad Rose was only grey.

All of that is why he doesn't answer. All of that is why he instead of wandering the streets for fun he goes looking for Rose. He doesn't know where she is but he starts with her district, it's an as good as any. And as soon as he sees her, he runs over and scoops her up in a hug without warning and because he of course stepped on a couple of hearts, she gets a peck on the lips and the cheek too. Not quite intended, but ah well. ]

[There's a pause on her end, as well. She's thinking, really, really thinking about it.]

... I dunno. Feels kinda like a dream. Like one of those dreams y'can only just barely remember, an' it just .. fades.

[She's in for a surprise when she realizes the candy hearts are floating around. But as for now? She'd wanted out of the house. Out of her room and into the bits of the town that were rather bright with colour. Nothing grey or drab- something to take her mind off it. She could barely remember it, sure... But it felt almost like waking up after a nightmare.

It left her anxious, uncomfortable, twitchy. So she'd gone for a walk. And who better to run into- or be run into by, than the Doctor himself? Maybe not her Doctor- though she never really liked calling it that. And scooped into a sudden hug? That isn't so bad. Just what ~~the Doctor ordered~~ she needed. Especially one from him.

The kisses are a surprise, but not altogether unwelcome. Her arms are back around him just as tight, after her moment of shock. Hugs were definitely, definitely good.]

Hello t'you too.

[ Good, because it's just what he needed too. Someone with a familiar smell, and familiar way of hugging and warmth and presence, just someone who's here. Someone so very, very important. It's not Amy, but it's something.

He buries his face in her shoulder, breathes all of her in. ]

Hello.

[ It's so very good to see you. ]

[No, she's certainly not spitfire ginger. And she's sorry that she isn't, really. This Doctor didn't know her anymore- not technically. But he still knows her, and she still knows him, regardless of technicalities. And hugs are always an easy get-by. Lots of wrapping arms, squeezing and burying faces into shoulders. She's nowhere near as tall as Amy, though, so tip toes might be a bit of a stretch. Her legs are .. off the ground. At least at first.

But hugs. Hugs she can definitely give. Especially after having heard from Rory that Mrs. Pond is ... not here.]

Was I gone long?

Not terribly. But enough to be missed.

[ But, indeed, she is shorter than Amy and he's pretty tall, and they can't really stand in that kind of position forever. So he lets her go, and puts his hands on her upper arms and smiles down at her. ]

[The TARDIS can wait. Kind of comes with the territory.]

I haven't much experience in that area yet but I understand.

It's alright. I mean...it might be for the best, right? She doesn't have to deal with the gods when something else happens. [ He doesn't really seem convinced. ]

S'just weird. I don't even remember taking my bracelet off.

No, s'pose she doesn't. Can't see her finding that a good enough reason to not stick with you though. I know I-- I'd prefer to stay with someone.

[She'll smile up at him just as much. She's not his Amy, and he isn't her Doctor. But they'll manage.]

Did I miss anything interesting?

Yeah. Me too. But it wasn't her fault. The gods send people home for no reason all the time. They've done it to the Doctor and to you.

Nah. Came back in time just for this.

[ He kicks at the hearts. ]

Perhaps it slipped off by accident. Bumped in a crowd of people and didn't notice it gone. Or maybe there is something else at work in this instance.
