I used to run a blog back home. A journal of a sort, for those out there who don't know what a blog is. It's sort of second nature to think about how to write about something while it's happening, but the problem here is that there hasn't exactly been much worth writing about. It's a good way of keeping notes, though, so I might as well give it a go.

I'm Dr. John Watson. No, not the one with the moustache who runs that clinic, although he's apparently some sort of... alternate universe version of me? That's one thing that's really worth making note of, at least.

It's really quiet around these parts, isn't it? I've been here for over two weeks now and there's just been nothing. Well, aside from a bit of a row down at a pub and the "gods" deciding to host some sort of competition, and a tournament. I can't say I've ever really been very interested in watching people fight, so I didn't really take notice of that. Good for those who find that fun, though. Lucky bastards.

Okay, maybe two weeks isn't really that long, but I'm used to excitement a bit more frequently than this.

You know, the problem is that I don't really believe in any of these things. Gods, travel between universes, alternate universes, magic, all of that. That's for fiction, it's not real. Yet here it all is in front of my eyes. I'm still partly waiting for it to come out as some sort of sick prank.

But going on the assumption that it's not. This war, what can you people tell me about it? Conan, I was told you might know something about people keeping records?

There might at least be some use I can make of myself. I've seen my own share of it. War, I mean.

_{[ Sherlock has been practically nonexistent for the last week. It's by choice, of course - there are things Sherlock doesn't want John to know about, and those things tend to be very obvious. He's fine for now, though, in the middle of a particularly strong concoction that's left him feeling pleasantly buzzed.

He could take on the world. He just doesn't think that's very practical for the time being.

He stumbles upon John merely by chance, and instead of meandering back to his room, he decides to linger by the doorway and watch John type. It doesn't take long for him to figure out what he's doing. ]}

Oh, for god's sake. I thought I'd escaped your incessant need to type the day's events the moment we'd arrived here, especially now that there aren't any events worth mentioning. What next, an entry devoted entirely to making tea and staring at the ceiling? Riveting .

[ Sherlock's annoyance at his writing is something John knows is most often very much not serious. Or maybe a little, but not really enough to make note of. But with how Sherlock's been acting lately, aside from a few blessed moments where the old, fine Sherlock actually seems to peek out and the recent lack of his presence overall, there seems to be more venom behind it than usual.

John presses his lips together, and leans back into the armchair - only a few sentences away from finishing the entry - to give Sherlock a blank look. ]

Conan's got a lot of records, but I'll help out a little.

Honestly, it's been quiet for about a month. After the armies got decimated, we've been in a holding pattern. I think people aren't even quite sure what to do right now. They know that there's going to be a rescue operation to find Freyr's soul, but other than that it's been as silent as a tomb. Folks are trying to pretend to have regular lives, or they're trying to get the weaponry set up for the next fight mostly. Think of it as the calm before a storm that's waiting to break.

But, since you're asking for info, let's start this question by question, and no promises I know the answer or am willing to share. Deal?

The war was a pain in the ass. There were a bunch of giants and dragons we had to fight, but that wasn't very surprising since some of us have known about them for a really long time. One of the dragons declared war on us way back when people had first arrived.

Conan is really the best person to ask since he's been around since the beginning. There aren't many of us left but I can try to answer some questions, too. [She did it with Natasha, after all!]

Freyr's soul?

Do you know how long ago the beginning was?

Flashback to Ragnarok. We were losing. Lot of small victories, but there were too many of them. The last day of the fighting, Freyr called a retreat, walked out and blew himself to kingdom come. Took out a good half of their forces and forced a retreat.

Hence the quiet.

Supposedly, that was it. No coming back. His sister Freya kept going on about how we were leaving him to rot. We found out later she might have been onto something when she stormed off. His soul might be around still, but it might need to be freed or brought back or something. It's a little hard to pin down exactly.

We're sending people soon hopefully to somewhere that can get us clearer answers on that.

About seven and a half months ago. The dragon showed up a little more than a month in, I think. After that some ice monsters from the ice giants attacked.

So his... soul. Is basically probably still alive out there?

What happened to the dragon?

Gave us a warning and set some things on fire. He came back during the actual war to fight.

I'm not sure the word I'd use is 'alive,' but it still exists, even though I don't think it's supposed to. So there's a trance to bring him back.

That could be said of a lot of that. What exactly's ridiculous, if you don't mind me asking before we continue?

It was something like "The king of Muspellheim has declared war for your treacherous actions, beware!" He even set some things on fire.
