[ it's been two weeks. two weeks of trying to figure this place out. two weeks of attempting to get home by any means necessary. two weeks of observing the locals and others in her same position and ending up right where she started. there didn't seem to be any pattern to this. the people who were brought, young and old, they didn't have any strain of commonality. it didn't make any sense.

and she had yet to find a God to heir her grievances to (though bitching at Loki was starting to sound like a fun pastime, considering she might be here a while). she had to say something. she had to gather more data. ]

Does anyone know who, besides the people keeping us here, has been here longest? I'd like to speak to them...

[ her text broadcast is short and to the point. after a few minutes, she flicks on her video. it's probably the first time she's broadcast to the network on her own, without her face obscured in some way. ]

I thought time would go by slowly in this place, but even still .. I don't have a purpose. It's the first time in a long time that I haven't had anything to do. It's .. strange.

[ the broadcast ends. ]

I've been here since the first day, and so have a few of my friends. What did you want to talk about?

How long, if you had to guess, would you say you've been here?

[ ~~they keep robbing the cradle here geez~~. at least it wasn't difficult to find the person who had been here longest. or at least, since the first day. ]

I'm .. curious about how this all started.

[He's older than he looks, he swears. Sob.]

If I remember correctly, it's been just over six months now. We're fairly certain we were the first batch of Travelers because the city was completely grey when we arrived. The gods greeted us in our Welcome Halls that day, too.

What have you been told so far? It might be easier to talk in person.

[ things might be a little weird if they both looked their actual age. ]

I've been told a lot and I've found out some things on my own. A few things are nagging at me, though. [ careful, no need to give away too much. ]

If you like, we can speak in person. Have you seen the gods since then?

No, not in person. Since that time, they've mostly addressed the city through our bracelets.

Where would you like to meet? I'll tell you what I know, and see if there's anything else you wanted to ask.

[ she's been meeting lots of people in the library lately. why not go for a change of scenery. ]

Does Gefion Park work? In about .. 30 minutes?

[ that would give her time to navigate through the city, since it was relatively far away from her current location. ]

I can do that. There's a dock at the lake that would make a good place.

I'll see you there?

I'll do my best to find it. [ and you know. be creepy and probably watch from a tree for a few minutes beforehand. ]

[ and lo' and behold, come one half hour, she is kind of creepin' around, having found an angle to conceal herself and watch Merlin approach first. it's just her style. that way she knows that he's come alone, she can get a sense if he's armed ~~not that he looks too scary~~. ]

[Merlin follows not too long after, fiddling with the ends of his scarf as he glances around.

When a few minutes pass, he checks his bracelet, sending her a text when he sees he doesn't have any messages.]

Do you need help finding the dock?

You would hardly be the first to feel that way.

Why do you wish to speak to those of us who have been here longest?

What was your purpose before?

I was a student, working towards a law degree.

[ the lie is an easy one. ]

I don't understand why we were brought here in the first place; I've had the war explained to me, but... I thought maybe people who had been here longer might know more than the rest of us.

[ oops, looks like creeping around has made him think she's not going to show. she doesn't bother answering, instead approaching briskly, clearing her throat when she's close enough. ]

I don't think I ever got your name.

That would depend on what it is you think we may know. There are those of us who are willing to share what it is we have unearthed, but do you believe that we may perhaps be withholding some of that information?

And that is your purpose? To have a job?

Why did you want to have a job?

I don't think anyone considers that their ultimate purpose. But I was working towards the degree to ultimately get a job. So I could help people.

Do I think .. that people are lying?

[ it's easier for her to feign that she doesn't completely understand his implication at first. ]

No. Of course not. Or at least, not on purpose. I've only been here a short time and things seem to run together. All the days are the same.. After a long time, I can see how it would be hard to remember things, or easy to discard details that wouldn't be perceived as important.

[Merlin whirls around, one hand still raised to fiddle with the bracelet.]

Oh, you're here! [He shuts the bracelet down.] It's Merlin, by the way. What was yours?

Can't you help people anymore? Can't you still make that your purpose?

The days may all seem the same, but that was not always so. [Aside from the incident with Freya, things had been rather calm since the battle of Ragnarok. It only made him all the more wary.]

And what sort of details would you happen to be looking for, if you are even willing to discuss this over the network?

[speaking of the incident with Freya; Natasha hadn't really understood that. she'd abstained. it hadn't seen right to vote when she didn't understand the situation.] I want to learn more about the time when things weren't always the same, then.

When did more people start coming here? Why? Did the gods say anything? [she shrugged.] It doesn't seem to make any sense, for us to be here so randomly.

Not while I'm here. Things are standing still, at the moment.

[ and back home, she doesn't help people. she kills people. it's different. ]
