It goes far back, so I'll summarise and cut to the actual rebooting bit.
See, the TARDIS - that's my ship, time machine, only one left in the universe - she exploded. Or was exploding and, you see, she exists across all of time and space so you really don't want that to happen. Time was disintegrating because of it, so this crack in time had been following me and my friends for a while deleting worlds and people from time - one of my friends included - before I realised what it was about.
Then I was led to Stonehenge in 102 A.D. and banded together with a bunch of Romans to protect the Pandorica. It was said to hold the greatest monster in the universe and everyone knew about it at this point - it's how I knew about it - so I knew that all these dangerous species would be coming to get it. But guess who was among the Romans? That friend who was deleted, Rory's his name. Except he was, well, plastic, because, as it turns out, that whole place was artificially made by those dangerous species and they had picked things up from my other friend's bedroom, where there were pictures of Rory all over the place. So they put him together with the Romans.
It also turned out that the Pandorica didn't contain a monster at all. It was actually made to capture me, because they thought that would stop the TARDIS and time exploding. But I had a device that could open it, a sonic screwdriver, so a future me, that had been rescued from the Pandorica, just had to go back in time using something called a vortex manipulator and hand the screwdriver to Rory so he could open the Pandorica and put my other friend - and his fiancée, now wife - Amy in it instead. I tried to get him to come with me two thousand years into the future, when we would get her out and she would be perfectly safe because that's how the Pandorica worked. But he refused, and decided to stay with her. Since he was plastic, he wouldn't die from old age or anything.
Then, in the future, we had to get help from Amy's younger self's help to get the big Amy out of the Pandorica. Once that was done, we all head for the roof and I realise that the only way I can stop the explosion - that's taking place in space instead of the sun in that version of reality - is if I send myself into it. So I go back into the Pandorica and use that to get there, which would reboot the universe because the Pandorica contained atoms, information, of the original universe, so if I let all of that explode together with the TARDIS that exists across all of time and space, universe would be filled with the right information again.
That of course meant I deleted myself from time, but I visited Amy's younger self again and planted images that would connect to me and the TARDIS in her mind because, you see, as long as you can remember something, they can't be deleted from time. So, on her wedding day, she managed to remember me, and I came back!
