[Castiel has been quiet since Ragnarok, for the most part, spending time with his family and recovering from everything that happened. He did have some things he was intending to address soon enough, but they've been temporarily eclipsed by another issue.

He's using voice instead of his usual video for reasons, and only asks one simple question.]

Has anyone here ever been cursed the same way twice?

[This is not cool. It could've been a much worse curse to repeat, but come on; it wasn't funny the first time, and he didn't even do anything to warrant it.]

[Sam looks almost stricken.]

What happened?

[From what Daphne understands, Castiel has been cursed three times. Once with lack of voice, which is obviously not this. Once with being insane and though Daphne initially has a moment of panic, she relaxes once she understands that Castiel is relatively calm and peaceful, which leaves --

-- Daphne tapping on the door sounding faintly amused.]

Let me see.

[He lets it go to video for Sam, once he realizes what that expression from the hunter is about. He hadn't meant to worry him.]

I'm alright, Sam; I'm simply cursed. Again.

[Black feathers drift in view of the screen briefly.]

[He wants to tell her no, just to be petulant, but instead after a few seconds the door opens and Castiel sighs, quietly, wings folded against his back. At least he knows how to control them this time.]

[Daphne immediately brightens at the sight of them, awed by the sight of them. And though she supposes she should ask first, she immediately stretches out a hand to touch them.]

They're so soft.

[It's quiet, pleased, before Daphne frowns slightly and moves forward to look a little closer.]

Some of the feathers are crooked...

[And she promptly begins to straighten them out.]

[There is a tense moment, fearful, before there is an abrupt release of fear in a laugh at the sight of the feathers.]

Oh, man.

[It's said a little weakly as he settles back in his chair at the library, amused.]

Your luck sucks.

[He doesn't mind her touching--she's his wife, after all--though he is faintly amused that the first thing she does is start fussing.]

They're alright, Daphne. Feathers become out of place often.

[But he doesn't shoo her away, because the attention is nice.]

That is nothing new.

[His luck always sucks. But of the curses he could have repeated--or the multitude of other things that could've happened--this isn't so bad.]

It looks uncomfortable.

[It's said in a quiet protest as she smooths down a few more feathers, pleased with how it looks now that they're back in place, before she notices a few more that are jutting out oddly that she has to put back in place.]

How are you going to sleep?

[Tilting his head at the screen like a curious bird. It's been a while since he's talked to Castiel, he really does hope this curse isn't anything too bad...]

Not that I know of...what happened?

Good point.

[A sad point, but a good point nonetheless. All of their luck sort of sucks. It comes with being in their line of work. The Winchester curse and all that.]

At least you're used to moving them around this time around and you know how to fit through doorways, but I have no idea where we're going to put your wife when you go to bed unless you want to give her a concussion.

[Seeing as they share... a bed and Sam is pretty sure Castiel can't even fit on their bed by himself with those things let alone with another person involved.]

[Fixing his feathers has a calming effect, so it takes him a moment to realize she'd asked a question and respond.]

It is difficult, but I can manage it.

[He doesn't sleep for long anyway. He'll just have to be creative.]

[Cheriour's seen him like this before, so he lets the feed switch to video. The heavy black wings arch up over his head, barely visible in the frame, but easily recognizable.]

It is not the worst curse to repeat, but it is inconvenient.

I think I can control them well enough I won't hit her with them.

[Fortunately.]

...But it might indeed be awkward.

[She arches her eyebrows slightly at his zoning out, because it isn't often that Castiel blatantly ignores her questions -- but this is different from his usual brand of ignorance. It's more of a calm relaxation, a drifting off, and Daphne suddenly realizes why he's so calm.]

Are you sure you don't want to take a nap now?

[It's quiet, amused, as she steps forward to lean against his chest, but she gently strokes his feathers at his back with her hands as she wraps her arms around him for a gentle hug.]

We could duct tape them to your back.

[/douche]

I'm sure.

[And a glare, though it has very little feeling behind it.]

I know exactly what you are doing.

[Sam did the same thing; he's on to you.]

Perhaps we should do that with your arms.

[Seeing as they're long enough to flail out and smack someone even without sharing a bed. He remembers sharing a room in the Odin welcome hall, okay.]

I'm glad you can tell when I'm hugging you.

[Her tone is just slightly mischievous as she threads her fingers through feathers, scritching gently.]

It's an important relationship milestone.

I'm not sharing a bed with someone who weighs sixty-five pounds.

[js.

Even though Sam is pretty sure Daphne has more muscle than Castiel does.]

I will inform Buffy of that solution for when it does become necessary, then.

[Two can play at this game, mister.]

I'm completely comfortable with the fact that Buffy can kick my ass.

[No duct-tape necessary.]

[He wants to be a lot snippier than he can actually manage to be.]

You know that isn't what I meant.

[And with some effort, he takes a step back.]

[Hmph.]

Regardless, it doesn't matter. I will figure something out that does not involve duct tape.

[Daphne wrinkles her nose at him stepping backwards before she stops scritching at his feathers, returning to smoothing them back down gently. She takes a step forward again to rest her chin against his chest before hugging him again loosely, petting down feathers gently on reflex rather than with any real purpose.]

I think this'll be good for you.

[It's quiet.]

It relaxes you.
