01 - [ video ]

[ On video is the pink haired Secret Service agent, standing in a kitchen, dressed in maid's costume, with a white apron on. The maid costume of course comes from her Master, who always has her dressed in the strangest things.

In front of her is a counter top overflowing with different ingredients. Vegetables, meats, breads, spices, pastas, and more, as if she were cooking for a large party. But the face on the girl looks unhappy, as she looks at her mountains of ingredients. ]

...I don't know what I should make.

[ Her voice is quiet and spacey, like she's hardly even awake. Even her eyes look like she's near minutes of falling asleep. That's just how she is, and even though her looks say one thing, inside, she's extremely worried about making the right thing. ]

...My... [ How to refer to Miketsukami... ] ..friend died, and I want to make something that will cheer up Chiyo-chan and Miketsukami.

Does anyone have any ideas?

[ Ah... by no means she knows this person at all, but she can relate somehow.

The thought that cooking food to cheer her friends up never crossed Hanako's mind, so she's going to consider this in the future. ]

You could bake a cake for them, or other kinds of sweets. [ Sweets are the best emotional medicines... so she read in a book. ]

[ She doesn't recognize this person, but she's being helpful and that's all that matters.]

I could make a cake, I have enough carrots here...

[ She looks around at the food mountained on the counter, wondering if that was the right thing. As she wonders, she takes a giant bite out of the raw carrot. ]

[Euri recognizes that girl! They've spoken before.....]

Ah...? A meal like that is really important. What kinds of food do they like?

[ ... what is she even doing. ]

Er... yes, you could make a carrot cake if you have enough of them.

[Huh - that pink hair reminds him of Misha. Though, it's in regular pigtails, not drill shaped ones. And she's not shouting 'WAAAHAHAHA~~!!' or even being ridiculously cheerful. She's like some kind of Anti-Misha.]

I'd start by finding out what they like best and making that. If they have a favorite food or something that's especially comforting, try those.

[ Karuta just chews away for a few moments, then haphazardly throws the rest of the half-eaten carrot over her shoulder. ]

...The carrots are not fresh. [ So apparently there will be no carrot cake. ]

...

[ That certainly isn't good. ]

There are other types of cakes you can still do with those ingredients. You could make an apple pie, for example.

...Chiyo-chan likes sweets...I don't know what Miketsukami likes. I could ask Chiyo-chan.

[ Karuta's worry over this important meal shows, even as she begins to munch on a raw green pepper. ]

...I could ask Miketsukami.. [ She's not sure how to approach a person who just died though. ]

...How...how do you talk to someone who died?

[Karuta is that... healthy....]

You should! They'll appreciate it more if they know you went to the trouble of making their favourite foods.

[ She just takes a few more bites from the pepper, crunching loudly as she thinks. ]

What if I don't have the right ingredients.. [ Which seems impossible, given how much food she is surrounded by. ]

I'm sure you'll have everything, as long as you don't eat it all.... [She's wondering if she should suggest Karuta make a meal for herself first....]

..Do you know how to make one? [ She likes pies, as her widening eyes make obvious, but she's worried that she doesn't know exactly how to make one. ]

..I was testing the ingredients.. [ She was only biting into the vegetable to see if the pepper was fresh, and worth using in her cooking. She takes that stuff seriously. ]

You approach them gently and avoid the topic where possible. It happened to me a little while ago and while I appreciated my friends support, it's not something I wanted to talk much about at the time.

If yoiu'd rather it was a surprise or something, you could just try and remember something you saw him eat and enjoy. And if you need help finding a recipe, I may be able to help you out.

...I wish I could have done something to help.. [ She looks like she might be able to cry, but switches back to the food. ]

...Miketsukami never eats in the dining hall, he just watches Chiyo-chan eat. [ ...Her life is seven ways to strange, though she really doesn't know how odd it is compared to other peoples. Being a giant skeleton back home might be the cause of that. ]

That's natural - we all want to help the people we care for. But you get a chance to help now, so, it's not all bad. Most people don't have that opportunity so in a way, we are pretty lucky by comparison alone.

Ah - You've never seen him eat? That makes it a little tricky. You don't have any clue as to his preferences?

I do, though I can't say I'm perfect at it. [ She sees the expression, and wonders out loud. ] Would you like me to teach you?

[Oh, awkward laughter is a go.]

R - really...? I've never seen anyone eat a pepper like that....

Find out what their favorite foods are and make those?

If I ask them...isn't that ruining it? [ She touches her finger to her lip, tilting her head a bit. ]

Only if you want it to be a surprise?

Ah, I wonder what would be the appropriate food for mourning.

[She says so wistfully.]

Talk to them.

I died, and I don't want to be made a fuss of. I want things to be normal. You might make things worse for your friend.

[oh, it's the messy eater... he's starting to see a theme with food here.]

Is that sort of thing suitable for this situation? Surely there aren't many people would want a "you died but welcome back to the place that killed you" celebratory meal.
