Oh dear.

[ Lucy's face flickers into view, and of course, she is smiling. Though somehow she's covered in flour and a myriad of other baking supplies. She coughs, not realizing the bracelet is showing every comedic mishap she has gotten herself into.]

Why does this always happen?

[ She blinks up, flour smudged across her nose and she laughs, almost pathetically. ]

Does anyone know how to bake very well? I thought it would be nice to try and make something sweet to cheer everyone up with but... well.

If my brothers see this, they'll be so upset!

[ But she's grinning about this, and that may have definitely been a giggle and not a cough. ] I'm not sure who is up to the task, not after these long days but I just... I wanted to do something.

[The sound of horses whinnying in the background opens the feed, and eventually a rough-around-the-edges farmboy comes into view.]

Tha' depends, what're y' tryin' to bake?

[ Lucy turns at the sounds of the horses and grins, her face lighting up. ]

Well, I thought perhaps some cupcakes, or bread? I don't know, sweets always make people feel better. Until they eat too much.

[ She laughs a little, trying to wipe her face off but it only ends up smearing the flour further. ]

Do you know how to bake?

Oh! Cupcakes 're easy. Y' know how t' make frostin'?

[One of the horses presses its nose into the side of his face, wanting his attention. He nudges it away with his shoulder, only for it to come back, chewing on some of his hair.] O-Oi! Cut tha' out! [He offers it a carrot. Pleased, it finally stops bothering him.]

Er... where was I. Cupcakes! Yeah, they're real easy, any flavor y' wan' in particular? I can tell ya how.

Baking is definitely on my hobby list. I can lend a hand.

I didn't know they had horses here! Oh, don't ignore him.

[ Lucy laughs and peers into the screen to see the horse before she looks at her baking supplies again ] Well, I thought vanilla! It's simple enough, isn't it?

Oh I'd be so happy if you helped!

Oh, really? Do you mean it?

[ The kitchen alone has been destroyed, baking supplies gone terribly awry. This is what happens when a little girl tries to cook. ]

I've never been very good at it. [ A giggle. ]

Every word. Baking's just chemistry. Really.

[But she'll stop herself before getting into that.]

Just no souffles, I'm afraid. Haven't mastered that one yet.

Oh, I can help! [Lyra grins excitedly.] I can bake stuff, as long as it's not anything super complicated. [Her grin grows a touch more playful.] Well, even if it is I don't mind trying.

Chemistry? Oh I think Edmund studied that once, maybe. He is my brother, you see.

[ She laughs and starts to clean up the space a little bit. ]

I don't even want to think about souffles! I can't even make toast without it burning!

They got lotsa horses here! Y' been to th' park yet? We got horse-drawn carriage rides down 'ere and I kin give ridin' lessons!

[As if the stallion can tell he's being talked about, his head nudges back into the frame. Shou just kind of... lets it happen this time.]

Vanilla's real easy, looks like y' already got flour. [He laughs, having doused himself with flour more than once as a child learning to cook.] Le's see... Y' need salt, bakin' powder, butter, sugar, eggs, milk... Oh, an' vanilla, o' course. Y' got all tha'?

Oh, I was just thinking of cupcakes! Is that too difficult?

[ She laughs a little bit, clearly amused by this girl. ]

I'm in Sigyn house if you'd like to join! It's a bit of a mess, though. [ She should look ashamed of this, but instead she just ends up looking mischievous. ]

Oh, really? Well I'll definitely have to come! I know how to ride already but, that just sounds lovely.

[ She giggles and leans closer to the screen, observing the horse. ] Oh hello there, then. I guess he wants to help? [ A laugh. ]

Oh, yes I have all of those things!

Oh, everyone should study chemistry. It's facsnating. Easy once you get the hang of it.

[Oswin smiles. Being Junior Entertainment Manager was coming in handy.]

You just got to start small. Forget about toast, this is baking. I'm sure you'll be better than you think.

Well, I don't know about that.

[ She laughs, wrinkling her nose at the prospect. ] But maybe. I can give it a try, anyway, why could it hurt?

So! Where do I even start? I'm guessing with the bowl and eggs? [ She laughs and starts to get the items together on the counter tops, even though they're already quite a mess.] I'll clean it all up, don't worry!

Oh, that's where I am, too! [Lyra freezes the screen in place so she can lift her bracelet into view to show off the Sigyn gem on it.] Are you in the kitchen? I can make cupcakes.

[ Lucy beams. ]

Oh! Yes, I am. If you don't mind a little bit of flour I would love it if you should show me how to make them? Hopefully it won't end as poorly as it did this time.

At least twenty-five percent of the fun of cooking is making a mess. [Lyra grins and stands up, disappearing off the screen for a moment before the screen adjusts to follow along with her.] I'll be right down!

[She'll be bounding into the kitchen in only a few minutes' time.]

[ Lucy has only just finished washing her hands and face off when Lyra comes into the room. ]

Oh, hello! I wasn't lying, you see. [ She holds out her arms to prove that the kitchen is quite a mess indeed. ] But I think we'll have a lot of fun. I'm Lucy, by the way, Lucy Pevensie!

[Lyra grins at Lucy and the mess both.] As long as we keep making things we don't have to clean until later, right? I'm Lyra. It's nice to meet you!

Oh! I guess you're right. I suppose we should make as many things as we can. Or at least until we can't. But we can't clean up before we decorate everything, right?

[ She laughs brightly, moving to set them up space to work at. ] It's nice to meet you, too! What shall we make first?

I am afraid I am hopeless when it comes to cooking, it seems. [She offers a smile.] That is very good of you to try to cheer others up, however.

[ She laughs a little bit. ] I think I may be just as hopeless, really.

But I like to cheer people up. Sometimes a smile can go a long way, I think.

I agree completely. I've been told that smiles and good humor are the best sort of medicine for those who are feeling down.

Oh, definitely. I'm Lucy, by the way, Lucy Pevensie. Sorry you have to see me in such a messy state. At least it will be memorable!

[No don't trust her it was just always easy for her so she assumes it is for everyone.]

First you need to decide what you want to make. Biscuits, cupcakes, cake, pie? Each one needs to be planned differently.
