[Look who has appeared on the feed today. She's looking in high spirits, all smiles as usual. She seems perfectly composed and calm, not a hint of uneasiness about her.

Although, that in itself might strike some as suspicious, to smile so quickly after those horrifying days of darkness. Upon closer examination, her smile might look a bit too brittle, and her skirt is full of wrinkles from being grabbed in fistfuls by nervous fingers. ]

...Hello, again. I'm sorry for my absence. I didn't mean to worry anyone, or to give anyone a fright. To tell you the truth, I had lost my bracelet, and afterwards... [Her voice falters for a moment.]

It seemed like I had just forgotten everything, but I'm back now. I'd especially like to apologize for all the work I've missed. And if anyone tried to get ahold of me, I'm perfectly fine!

And...that's all I had to say, really.

[Nanako might hear some borderline sliffling noises for some seconds, before Mariko's image fully appears on screen. Because she hasn't been dead worried while searching for you, missy, not at all ~ .]

Well, I can see you're still in one piece, but you aren't hurt anywhere, are you?

[She doesn't see any injuries, but she can't help fretting. Even a small wound is worth attention.]

I got scraped up, just a bit, and Salander-san—a friend helped me out. But I went to a real doctor, afterwards, so I'm as good as new.

[You're too sweet and cute for your own good sometimes, Nanako. Mariko is trying to be an adult about this not worry anyone, being hospitalised back at home and dodging danger during the whole Darkness were no fun!]

[Is that a ping of jealousy and pain in Mariko's heart? It is. Bad habits won't disappear overnight, and she's still juuuuust starting to work through them.]

[She has a feeling she said something wrong, especially knowing how jealous Mariko gets... She fumbles for words, trying to remedy the situation and get her friend to smile.]

I was very worried about you. Really, I was! I even tried to look for you, but my leg was hurt, so I couldn't go very far...

No, no! I went to a doctor, I told you, remember? I just got cut, but it wasn't serious! It hardly even bled, it's fine.

["Hardly even bled"...it had taken boxes of cotton balls to soak up all the blood. But there isn't any need to worry her more than she already is.]

Are they? I think they are different, even if just a little.

The first is asking, how are you feeling? Are you in a good or a bad mood? And the second is about your health. Are your wounds okay? Are you healing?

Though they can considered the same, now that I think of it... I guess it is redundant, then. I'm sorry, I suppose I'm a little talkative today.

But you still were hurt, Nanako-san, and that's what worries me! [Fuss, then thinks a little more.]

It's nothing to worry about, it's healing very nicely... It's just a scratch, Mariko-san, I think you're working yourself up a bit too much...

To see how you're holding up, whether your leg is healed or not! I worry about you, and that's not a bad thing okay?

[Well, if Mariko sees the stitches later, she will still get worried and upset anyway!]

Good. I don't think I've gone to your room, Nanako-san, which number is it?

[And the second she disconnects, she'll be scrambling to put on some pants, or something that will cover her leg better than a skirt.]

[Mariko spends the next minutes fixing her hair and appearance, she can't let Nanako know she was crying or nervous! And in few minutes she's knocking on Nanako's door...]

Nanako-san, it's me!

Just a minute!

[She's just finishing rolling down the cuff of her pants, distractedly running her fingers through her hair in a nervous gesture as she goes to the door.]

Come in, Mariko-san. I'm sorry it's messy...

[It's really not that bad, other than a sweater draped over a chair or some wrinkles in the bed covers from tossing and turning.]

[Mariko nods at Nanako's words, but as soon as the door's closed she goes for hugging her, trying to not put too much pressure on her just in case.]

It's okay, I don't mind that! But I'm so glad to see you!

I am, too! Of course!

[It's good that she isn't smothering her, but teally, she's not made of glass. She smiles, taking a step back once Mariko is finished, gesturing for her to take a seat.]

Would you like anything? I can make tea, or there might be some leftover cookies.

[Mariko never does things by half, and Nanako should know that already. She's a little reluctant when Nanako steps back, but decides to take the seat and be a "good girl" this time.]

Cookies are always good, specially if they're baked by you. I don't mind, as I already said!

Here you are.

[Just plain sugar cookies, but better than nothing. Placing a few on a napkin for her, she's glad that her friend hasn't started demanding to see her leg right away. Maybe she can distract her long enough so that she'll forget.]

A-anyway, Mariko-san, is there anything new with you?

[She won't thought.]

[She'll likely come back to that little "issue" later, but right now she's happy to see Nanako again. So Mariko takes the napkin and places it on her lap, eating one of them with an almost child-like enthusiasm.]

I've done a bit of everything! While looking for you, I did meet some nice girls, and saw the people that came to help us after these Dark Days...

Really? So you made some friends, then? I might get a little jealous...

[It's nice, to joke around a little and simply talk, after everything. She's missed it. she's missed her.]

[Mariko huffs a bit at that, blushing quite a bit. She's not taking her worry for granted, huh?] You say it as if I'd forget about you here. I never would, and you should know!

[She knows all right, but she simply nods, the joke being over.]

I know, don't worry.

[She distracts her again by turning the conversation towards the cookies. Anything to avoid the dreaded topic.]

[Mariko munches on another, sighing. She's trying to not mess up again, because even with the friends she has started to make... if Mariko ever lost Nanako here for good, she simply wouldn't know what to do from then on. Really.]

Good as always, Nanako-san! Why do you ask when you already know the answer?

Well, you never know. I make mistakes, too!

[She hears that sigh though. Maybe she's more tired than she lets on? In that case, maybe some food will perk her up.]

[We'll see about it. But she's more or less happy now and doing what she can to keep it up.]

But here we don't have people like Misaki-san, who'd use them to be cruel to you. That's already a big perk!
