2nd Duty ♔ Video (backdated to day 133)

Greetings, Asgard.

[His expression is pinched and withdrawn, quite a change from the easy going bloke most are likely accustomed to. Despite this, he continues addressing Asgard calmly. He has spent long enough over thinking things in his room since the Darkness subsided.]

I offer my condolences to those affected, and if there is any way I can be of help, even if you consider it insignificant, please do not hesitate to ask.

[The thought that people may request ridiculous or asinine things doesn’t even cross his mind. ]

In light of what has recently transpired, I wish to offer my services to those who would like to learn to protect themselves. I specialise in swordplay, though I can offer other means of defence as well. The Citadel, where I am also employed, can offer teachers with a great range of specialties, if you are looking for something in particular.

For those who think they do not have the means to afford lessons, please contact me. I am certain something can be arranged.

[He swallows before continuing, determinedly looking straight at the bracelet recording.]

I must also apologise for [He nearly falters, sickened by the possibilities of what could have happened while he was Taken. Of what those missing days meant, of promises he failed to uphold.] anything that I may have done in the past few days.

[There is a quiet click as he turns off the feed.]

It's not your fault, Peter. [Her face is pale and drawn when it appears, thick black circles under her eyes, but she looks stern and determined.] It's not anyone's fault except the person who brought the darkness here. No one was able to fight it off.

[Oh...Yeah, he knows that feeling, there at the end. He himself gave into that before Ezio smacked it out of him, and he knows about the gnawing guilt one can have when something like that happens.

He knows it all too well.]

[ she's frowning as she looked at him. what was he talking about? he hasn't done anything wrong, at least to her recollection. then again, she knew little of what happened after edmund had caged her. ]

[Well, that came a few days too late. He has a rather ...unique teacher now. Though he guesses that keeping Peter in mind as a second option can definitely not hurt. Also he's still trying to work around having to use the Citadel :| ]

[she's been gone, well, sort of, and hearing the distress in her brother's voice almost makes her ill.]

What's happened, are you okay?

You are very kind to offer your services to those residing within this world. I turly admire your selfless act to do so. Not many individuals would do the same. [There will be a slight respectful bow to prove that he was being serious.]

If you do not mind my prying, what house are you currently apart of? [Yes. He was currently curious about the other individual. Was he another servant of sorts?]

[That might be true, but he certainly doesn't feel that way. What Nakama says is something he would say, and certainly believe to be true of anyone else.

There's a pause before he switches the feed to private.]

I...[He glances to the side briefly.] I'm not sure what happened. [Of what terrible things he possibly did, is left unspoken, but clear.]

[His eyes flicker for a brief second, but he smiles. It's small and tired, though genuine. He doesn't want to worry a stranger.]

Thank you.

However...

[He isn't sure how to continue. He hadn't even meant to say that. The tiredness must be getting to him if he let that slip out.

Because while he can't remember, that doesn't mean he isn't responsible for his actions.]

[He immediately smiles, happy and relieved to see her seemingly fine, despite what happened.]

How are you feeling?

...better, I suppose. [ it doesn't seem like she's losing control of herself, at any right. ]

I... I think I remember most of what happened.

[He will be sorry to know he missed Bran's inquiry. Unfortunately, he hasn't been paying attention to the network.]

Hello Bran. You've been doing well, I hope?

[He's definitely sorry he didn't get a chance to check on many people before becoming Taken.]

Yes. I am proficient in a variety of weapons, as well as hand-to-hand combat. Are you thinking of anything in particular?

[Not to worry, he's willing to work outside of the Citadel if needed.]

[He immediately grabs the bracelet, nearly crying in relief when he hears her voice.

While the idea of becoming grey had worried him immensely (and had sent all the Pevensies on a hopeless search), he's glad she missed the past few days. To think of Lucy becoming Taken is too much to bear.]

Nothing important, really. Do tell me where you are.

It would be wrong of me to withhold any help I can offer, especially when we do not know when danger will strike next.

[He smiles, a bit surprised by the bow. Hardly anyone knows of his true status, and he isn't in Narnia anymore.]

There isn't a need to bow, sir. I believe everyone should have a chance to learn, especially since no one has had a choice in their arrival here.

I have been placed in Heimdall. Yourself?

[He is quiet for a long moment before replying, voice cracking slightly.]

Whatever for? None of this is your fault. If anything--

[ here she pauses. ] This isn't your fault.

[He broke his promise (again) of keeping his siblings safe, and for that, they suffered needlessly. They shouldered responsibilities they shouldn't have to alone, and experienced horrors no one should ever go through.]

I should've been there, Su. I was too busy-- [Off gallivanting with other knights. He can't regret helping save others, but...] Ed had to deal with everything by himself. I left him all alone, Su. And you--

[He chokes off, unable to continue.]

As well as one could be in these situations. [He's starting to get over his best friend/merlin/only person from the same place/and more leaving, and the event didn't affect him because he stayed inside during it.] And you? [Were you being an idiot :|||| ]

Hand-to hand combat or something that could be done with small weapons that one could carry on himself without issues would what I'm interested in.

I'm fine. [The smile feels a little weak, but he hopes it isn't noticeable.] Is Will all right? I haven't spoken to him in awhile. [No, of course not. What are you talking about.]

I can teach both, if you'd like. A small dagger could meet your requirements.

You absolutely look like it. [:||||||||| your smile tells me differently]

He left a while ago. Almost a month now. [His tone is very careful here; he's not showing any emotion, but nothing else, either. Carefully bland.]

And that sounds good. When would you be free?

I would like to learn to defend myself. [Since Arthur is being all stubborn-y]

[He deliberately ignores the bit of sarcasm, hoping Bran will not continue that line of conversation because he isn't the best liar.

He becomes quiet upon learning this. He hadn't known the other boy well, but he did like Will, and he knows that Will and Bran are friends. While he had been occupied with finding Lucy for the past month due to her disappearance, that is no excuse for not realising sooner and seeing if Bran is okay.]

I...I am sorry to hear that, Bran, and for not realising sooner. I am truly glad to have met him. [He bites his lip.] You are certain you are all right?

[Peter is willing to talk if Bran needs to, but he will not force it.]

Tomorrow afternoon earliest. If that doesn't work for you, we can arrange another time and eventually figure out a regular schedule.

No, Peter. No. Whatever happened to me that day-- that had been my fault, and not any other's. My-- my guard I was down, I should have been more cautious-- [ which in itself is an irony, since of all of them she's the most cautious one. or supposed to be, anyway.

but her brother's words caused her some confusion as well, and some dread. ] ...what do you mean you left Ed alone? That's... that's not how I remember it.

[Peter has learned long ago not to protest (too vehemently) if his sisters wanted to learn any sort of fighting. At least he will know they are not completely defenceless if he or Ed aren't around.]

Tomorrow at four should work. [he won't take up a few threads in this conversation again, but feels that it should not go completely un-adressed.]

...and yes. It has been a while. [He shakes his head slightly.] I should think that he liked you, too. He spoke of you well.

But if I had been there...

[He could have kept her safe, couldn't he? Maybe he couldn't have done anything (which he refuses to believe), but now they will never know because he wasn't there.

He glances down at the question. The sudden onslaught of guilt and shame causes him to twist his bracelet around in an effort to keep control.]

I...[He swallows thickly.] I have not kept my guard up the entire time either.
