( 02 ) video → day 131

[ He'd only stepped out in hopes of finding something useful to do, or perhaps a way back to his own district. The safe house was nice, but it was making Jackson entirely too restless. Of course, he hadn't anticipated stepping out to find the streets just as dark as the night before.

He quickly turns on his feed, intent of finding out if there's been any answers found about this. ]

Is it getting stronger? [ His face is hard to make out because of the darkness until he flicks on the flashlight in his hand and a faint halo of light surrounds him. ] I mean, whatever this is because right now, it doesn't exactly look like nine in the morning. And if any of those things are still around —

[ He stops in his tracks, sure that he's heard something. There's an unsure look before his hand drops to his side and the video shows the flashlight jumping around erratically as he tries to see around him. The video times out after a few seconds. ]

[ When the video starts again, Jackson's running pretty fast and all that can be seen is bits and pieces of things flying past, sucked into some unknown force. He lifts his hand and his face is seen briefly and he's shouting something, though the wind makes it hard to hear too clearly: ]

What the fuck— [ It's all he manages to utter before a shroudy, dark mist starts wrapping it self around him. Anyone familiar with it should know it as the Darkness slowly possessing him and turning him into a Taken oops. ]

[ ooc: taking both network replies and actionspam! He'll probably only reply via network if they message him after the first bit of video. Otherwise they're welcome to run into him as a Taken until Derek and the others show up to kill him. /o/ ]

[ This is the first Scott has seen of Jackson here since he arrived. And what is Jackson doing? Getting his ass in trouble. Big surprise.

He and Jackson may not be friends, but the video is still horrible to watch. It's like watching a horror movie, except it's real and the boy who's running for dear life isn't an actor, he's someone Scott has been trying to protect back home even though he knows he'll never get a thank you. There's nothing Scott can do to stop what's happening. It always frustrates him when he can't protect those around him. He feels like he's let them down even though it's not his fault.

The very last image of Jackson is worrying to say the least, but maybe it's not too late. If Jackson is still alive and injured, Scott can move him to a safe place. He just needs to know Jackson's location... If only his heightened senses were as strong as they were back home, it would make this so much easier. ]

Jackson, if you're watching this, tell me where you are.

[ It takes a few minutes for Jackson to reply because he's still trying to make sure that the sounds he heard weren't really another group of monsters just waiting to attack. Once he's somewhat sure that things are okay, he checks the bracelet and well, isn't this just what he needed to see.

Only you know, not. ]

Why am I not surprised you've found your way here too, McCall?

[ Scott won't be getting a big surprised look because frankly, he was expecting him to show up any minute after he talked to Allison and all things considered, there's bigger worries on his mind. Jackson will just be narrowing his eyes at the video, frowning as much as ever. ]

You should hide. It's not safe out.

...I'd say it's a little late for that. [ Although maybe heading back to the safehouse isn't such a bad idea right now. ]

[ There's something about her that's... subdued. Less of a strong presence than when they ran into each other while she was on her way in, he out. Her jaw is clenched tight and she speaks gravely. ]

It's getting worse. Stay inside and keep all the lights on, if you want to stay safe.

[ It's hard not to notice the change in her demeanour even if they haven't known each for very long because normally she's a lot more upbeat about things. But the Darkness definitely had taken a toll on everyone and he realizes belatedly that it probably had for her too. ]

I'm already out, but I've a pretty good flashlight with me. Any idea why it's getting worse?

Because it's getting stronger. It's Taking more people. It's gaining more ground. Control. [ She speaks quietly, and her eyes fall. ] It took me. I'm -- I was lucky to have friends willing to save me, by doing what they had to. But I don't want to see the same happen to anyone else.

Jackson? Jackson! You have to get inside! [ This is what she was terrified of when all of this started; someone she knew, especially someone she cared about (and she cares about Jackson, even if they aren't the closest) going out in all of this. She remembers all too clearly how that guy - the only one familiar with this - said they had to kill anyone who was taken by the Darkness, no matter what. It was the only way to end it.

The thought made her sick to her stomach and reminded her too much of home, especially with Jackson. This place wasn't supposed to be like that. This place was supposed to give them a break from hunting one of their friends.

Needless to say, she's a little freaked out right now. ]

[ You don't need to tell him twice. Every so often his eyes shift off-screen as he keeps trying to keep an eye out for a horde of Taken to come out or something. ]

And that's it? We can't do anything to actually stop whatever it is?

[ So she'd become one of the monsters as far as he can understand. He eyes her warily, hearing her out as she finished talking. If it could start doing that to others besides the natives.... well. he really didn't want to find out. ]

What did they do?

[ When he gets the message, he doesn't seem to be able to pay attention to it at first. Some time has passed since he's talked to a few others on the network and in-between each one, he's sort of been slowly trying to make his way back. This isn't anything like the darkness the night before and his skin is starting to crawl just from being out here so long. Even he, for all his stupid bravado, knows when it's time to call it quits.

He appears a minute later, looking visibly paler. Apparently whatever he's just seen is enough to make him forget about being mad at her for now. ] I'm fine. Really.

Really? Because you kinda look like you're about to pass out. [ The snark - which really isn't that intense - shows her concern, okay? Because despite what Jackson is back home (and what he might still be here) and the way that he's treated many people (her included), Allison still worries about him. She doesn't want him getting hurt just because he's being an idiot. ]

Just find some light, okay? Please?

I'm fine. [ It's said with a grit of the teeth, that one he normally does when he's trying to be stubborn. And though the worry from Allison is still surprising, he doesn't actually want her panicking about him.

He waves the flashlight in his hand and continues walking. ] This is about the closest light I can see.

You must stay in the light. And stay inside. It is not safe.

It must be fate. [ Scott has to smile a little at how disgruntled Jackson looks to see him.

But then he's back to looking serious. ] What are you doing? Haven't you heard of safety in numbers?

[ All the disapproving frowning, Jackson. All of it. ]

And what happens when the flashlight goes out?

[ Derek's getting kinda tired of this everlasting darkness thing. Sure, the Taken are a pain to deal with when you're almost completely human, but when the morons (and no, you're not the first one he's seen out and about doing stupid things in the dark, Jackson 8|) from Beacon Hills insist on venturing into it as well? Yeah, he's this close to just letting Jackson just wander on off like a dumbass.

But..this is just too stupid to ignore. ]

You should be inside. [ Just a thought. ]

Is it? [She doesn't believe that.] It's never too late to find a good place to hide.

Listen, I've already told everyone this but in case you can't see. It isn't exactly easy. [ He's snappy without really meaning to be, but the constant buzzing of the bracelet and his paranoia levels rising in the darkness is not a combo.

He sighs after, pursing his lips as he tries to determine where he's ended up. ]

Odin, somewhere. I think.

[ Oh look just who he wanted to see.

Except, never. But even Jackson's too tired and sick of this stupid Darkness being everywhere to do much else but glare at the screen when he answers. ]

It's none of your concern.

A little hard when there isn't much light around. Or at all.

[ He's trying his best to keep his flashlight with him though? ]

And do what? Just wait till they find me? At least I can run this way.

Try some really stupid gods who can't be bothered to give a shit. [ yep, still disgruntled.
