[Mary is, as many people today, reviving in the Palace. Some of you may remember seeing her wandering the city last night, Taken and violent and mindless. Now she's inside but sitting next to window, looking stressed and more than a little confused.]

Uh, can someone tell me what happened? What am I doing here, did- did I die?

[She swallows hard, looking nervous, and peeks out of the window.]

The city's still going crazy, isn't it? Can anyone tell me what's going on?

[Uncomfortable pause.]

Um. Can someone near the Palace come cover me? I need to get back to my apartment in Thor, but I don't have my gun. I woke up without it. All I have is a knife.

If anyone could help me- thanks.

If you woke up in the Palace there, then yes - You died. It happened to me yesterday.

In case you didn't know, you can use light to keep a lot of the monsters away. See if you can find some torches or a flashlight or anything that will burn for a while to keep the area around you illuminated. They won't come into the light if they can help it. It's not quite as effective as a gun I guess but it's something.

Totally serious - I was surprised when I found out about it yesterday. I tried it and it works, so, do your best to find something that's going to make a bright, long lived light.

I'm not sure - my memories of my own death are, unfortunately, very much there. Maybe it had something to do with how you went?

[Safe? Watson's amused snort is not likely to reassure. Still, as the doctor gathers up his cane and a lantern with the ease of someone who has been waiting for this, Mary can at least take comfort in the fact that Watson moves like someone who knows what he is about.]

[So many emotions are tangled in his voice. He's glad he took a moment's reprieve to check the network, he desperately needs the boost that comes from seeing her alive and well.]

[That does soothe some of her anxieties, honestly. Still, it doesn't stop her from giving him a somewhat worried look.]

That goes for half the people I know, but they still manage to get themselves killed.

I must have. I woke up in the Palace, just like when I first came here.

[She's already by the Palace entrance when she answers hurriedly.]

No, don't- just stay inside, okay, someone's already on their way.

Can you just- tell me what's going on? I don't remember anything since last night.

[A little hurriedly.]

Maybe it is- I don't know how long I was out. Something might have gotten me from behind, but god knows how long I was out. Light- [She's distracted, jumping topics.] -I have a flashlight at home. Maybe I can make a torch out of something here, but I don't have a lighter.

[This is about the time he's had a chance to finally check the network, and is sitting in the corner of a nondescript, quiet room. His hair is slightly damp and he's pale, but apparently uninjured, though his jacket is splattered with blood.]

Is someone coming to get you?

[Mary nods and tries not to feel five years old.]

Uh, are you okay? What's going on?

[Last thing she remembers, it was just natives going crazy.]

If you can find someone from Odin, they can help you out there if they have Fire as an ability. Otherwise, some of the lamps on the outside of buildings are oil lamps with an actual flame in them. Just slip the casing up - carefully, because they can be hot - and you can use that. But you need something that's going to burn for a while - paper and other stuff like that won't work very well.

No, I just need something I can keep burning and keep feeding until I get home. I have a flashlight there.

[Omg this is the best information, okay. She had noticed that the freaky natives didn't like going into the light, but she didn't know why or have time to test how well it worked.]

Someone I met out there was using rags he'd tied around a stick and soaked in something called Everclear. How easy THAT is to get ahold of, I'm honestly not sure. But I think any kind of oil or what have you would work if you only need it to burn for long enough to get home.

[Jo nods.]

Everyone's fine, last I checked. Nothing we can't fix. [Jo's quiet for a moment, though, at the mention of last night. Mary no. :c] We need to get ready for tonight, though, in case it happens again.

Hasn't happened to me yet, and believe me -- there's been opportunity.

[If Holmes hadn't managed to get him killed, what chance did some Nordic gods have? The lantern lights swings as Watson walks, but though the light it gives swings with it, it doesn't falter.]

Now -- you're going to Thor, but which of the castle entrances are you at?

[He hesitates. Stay inside? He could never do that, not when there are people in need of help out there.]

Who? It's -- mayhem out there Mary. You could use more than one protector.

[If anything happened to her again he would never forgive himself.]

We can talk of that at home. [The horrors of the last few days are not something he feels should be discussed over the network and in any case he tries to limit his time on it because every minute he spends talking is a minute not spent fighting.]

Convenient. [ So the things they say about death in this city are true. ]
