[ Today Quinn's reading, lounging on her bed with one of the books that she picked up at the Traveller's Festival (it's not bad, Castle). But with the posts about jobs, and even the Festival, Quinn's curious. There are people that can do things, obviously, but are they doing now what they did? And even why they're doing things ]

So, there are people with jobs here, that's a given. I know one day I'll end up wanting to look for something. [ Spoiler: she wouldn't mind doing that now but she's not sure if it'd be too much ]

But what do you do? Or why? I get being bored, and I get just wanting to do something to fill the day, but I doubt that a lot of things here are the same. [ Unless you're a doctor, and she gets why they'd still do that. And she's glad that they're there ]

So, what did you used to do before Asgard? And is that even here?

[ Aka: Quinn doesn't have enough things to fill her day so she's asking everyone who does. It only takes a minute ]

I make food, because I've been here for too long and it's annoying to do nothing.

[ Nnnnnot answering the "what did you do before" question. ]

I'm working over at the Yakuzen Clinic in the pharmacy. It's not that different from the herbs and alchemy I used to do back home. Just different recipes to memorize and a broader stock to keep together. Admittedly, I never actually made a living that way, but it's nice to put my skills to use.

[She considers the other question and sighs.]

As for what I did back home, I studied with my mom until the last year and change. Are you really sure you want to know about that year? I'm not going to talk about it on the network.

I was in high school back home. [ Sophomore year and shockingly enough, she misses it. She's also not going to mention everything else that was going on since it's not exactly important. ] I'm too new here to have a job or anything, though.

I used to be on the lacrosse team. I doubt the people here even know that is. [ it feels weird to be talking about that again when it's used to be such a big part of his life. ]

[A chance to brag? Oh, yes. Pippin sticks to video because, well, it's the only setting he knows how to use. So here's a curly-haired Hobbit smiling on your screen.]

I was a handmaiden. [ Not that much has changed since then, honestly, and she wouldn't wish for it to. ] Though I suppose I still am one.

A handmaiden. [ She's not questioning it, just a little... curious. She's never met one before, or at least not anyone that calls themself a handmaiden - cleaners, hotel room service people, she's seen them ] I think that's a first. Is that person here with you?

[ She likes the cheerfulness and how happy he seems to talk about what he does, even if the only word she got was 'Guard' ]

And what's that? Or what do you do? Or guard?

I do. [ But he's still right, she's met people that have said some strange things, and come from very different places ] How long did you play?

So was I. [ And a few other people she's met were, or would have been if their world wasn't so weird ] Just a few weeks from graduating.

How long have you been here? [ How long's too new? She could probably recommend a cafe that was looking for people? ]

What did you do with it if you didn't make money? [ And she thinks about that question. The choice between that trust and hearing something, something that Samantha might not really want to tell, or between letting her keep her secret. It's not a hard choice ] Only if you want to talk about it. But I'd listen.

What kind of food?

Anything, really. I'm from Japan, so I have more experience with that sort of thing, though.

Wow, really? That's awesome! [ Except the being stuck here part... ]

Two days, give or take a few hours?

Oh, it's a very important position, Miss! I am tasked with guarding the Citadel. It is a group of buildings within the city of Minas Tirith. but I may be called out to fight at a moment's notice!

It's my second year on the team. [ pauses, not sounding too happy ] Or it was anyways. What about you?

Hey, you might find a few people here. [ It might be a big if but... he could try Sam? ] I used to be a cheerleader.

That sounds big. [ And a bit scary, the fighting party ] Have you had to fight?

I'm kind of looking forward to it. [ Even if she will be sad to leave, for a few reasons ]

Yeah, I'd say you're pretty new.

I'm not sure if I've heard of any of those here. [ Not that she knows everything here ]

I can bake, too.

To start a team. You think people would want to even with all the color stuff, or whatever, they want us to do? [ He's already met Sam so hey, maybe! He sounds slightly surprised because hey, other teenagers! ] So you were in high school too?

I have, yes. There was war in my world. But now it is ended.

Only kind of? I can't wait until I graduate. [ Assuming she lives that long... Beacon Hills is kind of a death trap these days.

She laughs a little. ] Yeah, just a bit. How long have you been here?

Trust me, I want to get out of there but there are things that I'll miss, mostly people.

About a month... or so.
