Hello, everyone. With all of the celebrations and festivals lately, I've been thinking a little about what I can do to help around Asgard lately too. I've gotten involved in a lot of things, but I keep coming back to the fact that I haven't practiced much with the power I've been given by Heimdall, and I'd like to do something about that. I'm a Damage Drain user, so it's hard to find an opportunity to really practice without someone walking away from it with an injury, and I don't really want to hurt someone on purpose just so I can get some more experience with my power. But I do spend a lot of time training at the Arena, so I was wondering if someone would like to have a practice fight if we could get someone from Sigyn House to come with us to make sure no one walks away with any lasting wounds. That way, I could get used to using my power, and with healing available we could also train harder and for longer. So if anyone is interested in combat training, or if you're a healer who would be all right with making sure things are safe while helping me train with my power, please let me know.

[Later in the day, Lyon is back at the Arena, just like she said she would be earlier. She's currently in one of the training rooms practicing her sword forms, but she'd be happy to stop and talk to anyone who wants to. And there are a few things she wants to ask some of her more regular training partners too, so she'll be keeping an eye out for anyone she's sparred with previously.]

[Upon hearing that Lyon would be training today, Nakama packed up her practice sword and headed for the Arena in the mid-afternoon. It's about time she took her friend up on her kind offer, and she hasn't got any other training scheduled today, so it'll be good for keeping in shape.

Besides, she might be able to help with Lyon's power training if a healer shows up.

So she's peeking her head into each room, until she finally finds Lyon and smiles shyly.] Hi. Are you still up for showing me a few things until a volunteer shows up?

[Lyon turns around, smiling as she sheathes her sword.]

Oh, Nakama! Of course, I don't mind. There's been a lot going on lately, so we should take advantage of the opportunity while we're both available.

[So she was..... huh.

The request made him curious, and he decides to seek her out in their small Baldr apartment. He knew she hadn't left yet, and he always preferred to discuss things face to face if possible.]

[She reties her hair more tightly, then pulls out her practice sword and leaves her bag at the side of the room before approaching Lyon.]

I've only really worked with a staff and a knife at close range, but I'm being trained by someone who knows swordwork, and she says it's not too different.

[This is nervousness coming out, can you tell?]

[She turns off the bracelet after she's done talking to whoever else has responded.]

That's right... I thought I would at least learn how to use it as well as I can if we're going to be trapped here anyway. It might be useful someday.

The biggest difference you'll need to get used to is the reach of the weapon.

[Lyon draws her sword again, grasping it with both hands and lowering it into position.]

Although a staff and a knife are already very different in terms of that, so you may be able to adapt a little better starting out. The practice sword I gave you should probably fall somewhere in between the two.

.. Oh, Lyon! You have the same power as me? I didn't even know! [ She laughs - obviously the chance was big since there were only two Heimdall powers, but even so.. ]

Have you had much of a chance to practice with it, Asahi?

Right... Without our runes we are a little less flexible then we could be in combat, here. The powers we are given are the next best thing. [Even if he never planned to use his without serious reason.]

Damage drain... it takes on another person's wounds, doesn't it?

That's right. I'd rather practice with it a little before I have to use it in a combat situation just so I'm used to it, but there aren't very many situations that come up in a normal day where I'd really need to use it.

It is a good idea to practice it. Such a power could be dangerous to you if misused. [How much could a person take on? Surely not enough to place them in critical condition....?

He truly hoped not. Shaking his head as if he could shake off such thoughts with the action alone, he smiles wrly.]

I would be happy to try to practice with you, but I am afraid my power is not quite suited for it.

Yes, that's another reason I'd feel better having a healer from Sigyn there with us at the time. I wonder if they can heal themselves, or only other people... if their power only works on others, that would be a reason to have someone with Damage Drain there in a fight - they could absorb any wounds or injuries from the group's healer, who could then heal the other person. I'll have to ask about that next time.

[It's something that hadn't occurred to her until just then, so she looks a little excited to have thought of a use for her power that Healing can't accomplish better.]

Now that you mention it, you never told me what your power is.

That is a good point. I know they can heal others, but I do not remember if they can heal themselves.

That smile grows a little awkward as she continues. He hadn't truly kept it from her on purpose. He knew that keeping what he was capable of from her could be detrimental to them in combat, especially given her position, but this sort of power.....

[Lyon, on the other hand, simply looks curious. She's not all that well versed in how powers from outside her own House work, especially lower profile ones like his. She's heard far more about Freya's Charm power.]

Power Transfer? How does that one work? Is it different from Energy Lending?

...well, it sounds like it could be useful under the right circumstances.

Oh! We wouldn't even need the healer, then, as long as we can keep the wounds light. I'd still have to stop after I absorbed enough of them, though.

Yes. Someone once suggested finding people to practice on, to see if kissing other parts of the body besides the lips would work.... [Hands, maybe.]

But such a thing is difficult to arrange practice for.

So I am afraid I will be no help with my power. [He was sure she wouldn't be alright with such a thing... it would be awkward, wouldn't it? Besides, he would prefer simply not using it, if he could help it at all.]

Still, if you need a regular practice partner, I would be happy to oblige.

[Kisses on the lips would definitely be strange. Hands might be okay. But yeah, she's got some appropriateness issues for sure.]

I think I can only absorb about half of any wound at the point I'm at with it now, so we'd have to let the rest heal naturally unless we can find a healer to help us.

Finding a healer would be the better option. We never will be able to tell what might happen in the coming days here. [And he quite well that even injured she would not take it easy, unless absolutely forced to.]

Well, hopefully some people will be willing to work with us on it.
