( 01 ) video ; action for Thor

[ So, after reluctantly accepting that he's not going to be going home any time soon, Jackson's found his way to the Thor Welcome House. He's currently sitting on his bed, hunched over the bracelet as he records this. He may have sort of accepted his fate but it doesn't mean he'll be happy about it (and it definitely shows). ]

I'm still not sure if this is some kind of elaborate set-up, but apparently, it doesn't seem like I'll be getting to leave any time soon. So since there's people to talk to — I guess, whoever has been here long enough counts — I have questions.

How does this power thing work? [ Because if there's one bright side that might exist, it's this. ]

Apparently you just sort of have them.

[She's probably not the kind of people you wanted to talk to, seeing as she just got here, but she does have some first hand experience with the powers. They kind of...saved her life.]

The longer you work with them the more you can level up, get stronger, but yeah. If you're here, you've got them.

If you find out how the power thing works, let me know. [Sam's focusing on it too as a positive in this bizarre situation.]

[ He's listening to her pretty attentively because hey, when it pertains to his interests he can make the effort. ]

Work with them how exactly? Would I gain anything else if I worked at it long enough?

[ Giving sort of a half-nod. Sure, maybe. ]

What's yours?

Some charm ability? Haven't worked it out yet. I wish I'd gotten to choose. Totally would have picked invisibility or flight.

I got strength, which is -- [ he pauses briefly. part of what he'd been hoping to get with wanting to be a werewolf but. (it's not enough) ] -- great. I just want to know when it's going to start kicking in.

What're you supposed to do with charm anyways?

[Sam is jealous of your power. It's so much more... manlier than his.]

I don't even know, man... Charm my way out of trouble? [He jokes with a snort.] You're lucky you got such a cool power.

Sounds pretty useless if you ask me. And it didn't really give me anything new. I should already be able to lift more.

[ no one's given him the memo of previous power's being cancelled yet oops ]

It's better than nothing I guess... You work out? The map says there's a gym here. I might check it out sometime.

Everyone here is given some kind of power, depending on what house they are put in. From what I understand there's at least two powers per house.

The basic thing about using your power is having focus. But there's some people who have a harder time getting the hang of it then others, in that case you might want to seek someone out with the same ability.

I didn't get to be captain of the lacrosse team by just sitting around on my ass. [ pause ] You know where it is?

[ Focus he can do. This is good news. But now he's sort of more interested in finding out about these other houses and powers. ]

So if it's two per "house", I'd get another power? Just strength is a bit basic for my liking.

[Touya shakes his head at that.] No, it's more of a 'either or.' You either get one ability or you get the other.

I'm in the Sigyn house, where you can either get healing or growth. I have the latter. But you can get stronger with your power. People tend to see them as levels.

[ His face falls a bit. ]

So, what -- I just keep bench pressing until I get stronger?

Practice, apparently. That's what a friend of mine said, at least. You start off pretty amateur, but the more you practice you get stronger and get more abilities that are related to it.

Kind of like leveling up in a video game, from what I took of it.

Sounds easy enough. If everyone here has these powers, they must have a place to practice. Right?

I dunno if it's signposted but the map says it's in the Thor district so I'm sure if I wander around that area I'm bound to found it.

[ ohay wait a second ] I'm in Thor right now.

The Arena. It's in Thor. It's not specifically just for practicing powers, but that's basically where you go to train.

Do you know your way around there?

That depends. What power do you have?

I've been there once during my official tour of the city, but it's a training arena. How difficult can it be?

[What you're looking at now is a blonde girl holding a sad little wildflower.]

It's easy. You just have to concentrate and do it.

[The wildflower in her hands starts to uncurl, to bloom, growing petals and leaves and extra buds until it's bright, healthy, and bigger than her hand.]

I got told I have strength. [ but he hasn't really tested it out yet. ] Depends how?

[ Jackson's confused at first, wondering just why she'd have some dead flower in her hand. He's about to make a snippy comment when she uses her powers and he pauses. His eyes widen slightly and it's easy to see that he is somewhat impressed. Of course, he'll have to immediately try and cover that up. ]

Not bad. [ he quirks an eyebrow ] That can't be it though.
