[seth just hates every single thing about his life and it's painfully evident in his expression right now. for someone who's normally so cheerful and optimistic, the look of almost-desperation on his face is probably a little unsettling.]

Is there anybody who needs healing? [he's focusing on all the other things right now, trying to keep himself distracted.] I mean, I can't—I can't fix everything, but I heal fast, so—

[so he wants to be helpful, because otherwise he'll be useless.]

What is even going on right now? If the gods need our help, why do they keep... letting things like this happen? Or making them happen, or whatever—

[just shuts up right now, and turns off the feed without another word.]

You talk about healing, but... are you all right? [Have a new person who doesn't know his usual, but still.]

These things may exist out of their control, Seth Clearwater.

My guess is that this is a warning, a way of weeding out the obvious troublemakers first. At risk of sounding morbid and cliche, I'd recommend you be careful. There's no way this is the last time the gods will kick their cruelty up a notch for dramatic affect.

Then what kind of gods are they?

[it's mostly a rhetorical question. it's not like any of the tribe's gods are all-powerful, either.]

Whatever they have left to deal out can't be worse than what they already have.

[since he's already watched several friends be hurt or killed, plus had someone he cared about and trusted taken away from him. (seth is a little naive about cruelty, it seems.)

I thought we were supposed to be, um, happy and prosperous here?

You really shouldn't say that. Ever. "It can't get worse" is code for "Hey Universe, please screw me over." And universe is a harsh mistress; that's for sure.

[She eases up and smiles when he laughs.] Right. Well, y'know, if you ever decide you're feeling distinctly not okay, then you can talk to me about it. It's my job to deal with supernatural and extraterrestrial shenanigans, and the damages they cause.

Except the whole upcoming war thing, and the stabbing thing, and before that it was the firebreathing dragon thing... [seth trails off and shrugs.] I thought we were supposed to be happy and prosperous too, but the gods don't seem so into that plan.

I'm beginning to get that. [and he probably won't go flirting with fate anytime soon, at any rate.]

—So you're like a supernatural therapist? [that's kinda funny, at least to seth's thinking.] To most people I am the supernatural, so...

Sometimes. I solve exotic problems. [She raises an eyebrow at that.] What kind of supernatural are we talking about it?

[now that seth's gotten over the initial do-not-want of explaining this, he actually kind of has fun seeing people's reactions.]

Werewolf. Well, more like a shapeshifter, but since I can only turn into a wolf it just seems easier to say werewolf.

That is so cool.

Can you still go all wolf here?

I wish. I'm almost totally human here, it sucks. —Not that there's anything wrong with being human! It's just kinda a downgrade from being a five-foot-tall wolf.

I could no more answer that than you could.

Bummer. But hey, at least you got a new superpower as compensation?

I wouldn't really call it a superpower... I can heal people, but I gotta take the damage myself. Kinda a win-lose.

[not that seth has ever hesitated to heal anyone, if he can manage it.]

It's possible that your frustration stems from the situation. You are not as you were, and this environment is one not everyone is suited for. Yourself, those you've come to know...

[ she doesn't answer the question; it's not Takane's nature to admit her own feelings all that often, not without a whole lot of nudging. ]

I haven't heard of anyone who's died yet. At least there's that.

Sounds like it's made for martyr types. Be careful not to overdo it.

Uh, yeah, I'll say. [that his frustration stems from the situation, that is. there's pretty much nothing more frustrating than watching your friends get stabbed and not being able to do a single thing about it.] I hate this place. Seriously.

Yeah, great. People are getting stabbed left and right, but at least nobody's died yet.

An excellent thing to not be! As martyr types tend to...do their martyr thing, which is not conducive to staying alive.
