asgardeventide | Act 1: Introduction

[The video feed clicks on. There's a Japanese boy in his late teens with light brown hair staring into the camera, looking a little unsure as to whether it's working. Apparently this worry subsides after a few seconds. His clothes are neat, even if his hair is a little messy looking.]

.....I'm a bit unsure what I'm supposed to say here. My name is Hisao Nakai. I'm new here as of today. I... uhm. Hmm.

[He looks unsure of something for a moment.]

I'm wondering if there's a doctor here. Or a nurse. If so, I'd like to meet them. Relatively quickly, if at all possible.

[The troubled look on his face fades a little as he gets that out there. It's done, now. Like taking medicine - get it over quickly so the bitterness doesn't last as long.]

Other than that, I like to read, so, if there's a Library here I'd like to see that too. If anyone could point it out to me I'd be grateful.

[He looks thoughtful for a moment longer, as if trying to think of some other pearl of conversation to cast out there. Upon finding nothing that seemed important enough, he gave a small nod and the feed went dead.]

[Hanako gapes at the screen for a good while. Just when she was losing hope on finding his friends, one of them shows up a couple days later and- and she's so overwhelmed omg]

[The tears well up in her eyes as she tries to jam on the touch screen with her trembling fingers, and finally sets the feed to audio. She hopes he can recognize it, her voice, although broken and shaking.]

Hisao......

For urgent medical problems, the hospital in Sigyn is best. For anything else -- well, perhaps I could help? Dr Watson, at your service.

You'll find the library in Odin district.

Ah, Hisao Nakai? A girl named Ikezawa Hanako-san has been looking for you awhile ago.

[Well, it weasn't as though Hanako was ever really chatty, but he'd heard her voice enough to recognize it pretty easily, even through an audio feed.]

Hanako? Is that really you!?

Oh, there's a Hospital in this district? I'm in Sigyn house... that's good to know. It's not an emergency. I just have some medications I need. I mean, I need to take them daily. But I'm alright for the moment.

And thank you for the information on the Library. Is the Odin district far from Sigyn?

So it really was Hanako on that audio message...

Thank you for telling me. I appreciate it. We're from the same High school back home.

[Sniff] Yes... I've been looking for you and Lilly...

How long have you been here? I just arrived today.

[He sounds a mixture of nervous, excited and confused.]

Is Lily here too? Did you find her?

A couple days ago... I stayed in my room the whole time... [She's so OMG happy Hisao's here... but at the mention of Lilly, her tone saddens again.] No... not yet...

[He's not at all surprised she was in her room the whole time. If she could do that in a quiet, safe place like Yamaku, a place like this will probably make her want to hide away even more.]

Well, if she's not here now, maybe she'll come some time later. Like I did. It's possible.

But at least we're both here. That's something. I'm really happy to hear your voice.

[His words manage to do what everyone else in Asgard couldn't do, even with all the kindness they could muster to her: she smiles, although weakly.

...Too bad he can't see it. She's not touching the video button, ever.

The only option left is to see him in person, which is the one thing she wants to do the most right now.]

...Where are you, Hisao?

Well, I was assigned to Sigyn House. I'm in my room, I guess? I'm not sure which one it is.

Where are you? I'll come and find you, if you'd like? I hope you're somewhere nearby - I really don't have my bearings at all yet.

Someone is looking for you.

I've heard that my friend Hanako is here and was asking after me, yes. Thanks for mentioning it, though. I'm grateful.

It will be nice for both of us to have a familiar face around, that's for sure. Not that I'm not looking forward to meeting new people too, of course. It's just a bit of a shock to the system to suddenly find yourself in a place like this.

Both library and hospital map should be marked on the map the maid gave you on your arrival. Odin's not far -- with the castle at your back, simply follow the main road around to your left. You'll pass through Loki and Thor district before reaching Odin.

Ah... [OMG they're even in the same house, this is GREAT!

But she'll contain her enthusiasm because that's how she is]

I'm actually in Sygin too... and the room is... [Just pretend she tells you the exact number because they didn't update the housing lmao]

[Oh. Right. The map. He should probably look at that more carefully.]

Thank you - that gives me a much better point of reference. I've never had to use a map like this before. Just maps for the train and that kind of thing.

You said you're a doctor? Do you work at the hospital, here?

You're kidding? That's pretty lucky we were placed so close together! Give me a few moments to see if I can find that room number.

[And, it does take a little while, but soon there's a somewhat nervous sounding knock on your door, Hanako. He's just hoping he heard right and you're really there.]

[No noises from the other side... then there's a click, as Hanako is unlocking the door, and then the doorknob turns. She opens it veeeeery slowly, like her usual. One eye peeks from the opening.]

Hisao...

[He looks extremely releived to see even just that much of her. Part of him had almost wondered if her voice on the audio feed was some kind of cruel joke. He smiled broadly.]

Yeah. It's me. You've got no idea how happy I am to see you.

[She faintly smiles in return, as the door opens some more.]

I'm so happy too... I thought I was the only one from Yamaku in this place...
