It's a bird! It's a plane! It's...the mythical city of Asgard deciding to be not-so-mythical.

Supernatural shenanigans are afoot. It must be a day ending in 'y.'

[ She rolls her eyes. Wendy may not be entirely sure what to make of this whole situation, but she figures her new, handy-dandy wrist communicator (or, more accurately, the people she can use it to communicate with) can help her out, aaand it's not as if she's a stranger to crazy situations like this. ]

I vote we skip the Wizard of Oz jokes, and head straight to the introductions and the passing on of necessary information about this inadvertent Asgardian occupation. Anything and everything is worth mentioning, FYI, because I'm not so sure I trust our gray hosts and hostesses' little welcome spiels. I mean, don't get me wrong. I've got nothing against the color grey or people lacking faces, but I've read The Giver, and I know that anything without a face could be totally up for stealing one, namely mine. Aaand while a face stealer makes for an awesome horror flick, in practice it seems a little extreme, human centipede extreme, if you know what I mean.

[ le sigh ]

There actually has been talk about face snatching, here. You'd do well to be a bit cautious, but most of the civilians are very kind and hard-working people. Make sure to say hello to them! You can end up making their day, Wendy.

See, making a potential face snatchers' day sounds a little unsafe.

But talk is just talk. They are stories. I'm not sure if they have a grain of truth to them or not, but one should never judge an entire population based on the actions of a few, right?

You'll just have to use your good judgment.

I'm all for openmindedness, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best, and carry a big stick, y'know?

[ His tone becomes lighter at that. ]

The good judgment is where the stick comes in, I suppose.

Er, while that- that certainly is a possibility...they're not face snatchers, if the consensus is to be believed. Rather, they are humans in the process of being made.

Normal is a relative word, but I will say that I'm a trooper; it's true.

[ She doesn't look too bothered. ]

This whole...alternate universe shenanigan is abnormal even in my opinion, though.

Yeah, but still...it's the truth?

We're really here to play protagonist and fix this place? I mean, it sounds all community service-y, but I'm thinking there's stuff the faceless and company are keeping under wraps.

I wasn't exactly rushing to believe it, either.

I've no doubt there are things we're not being told, but nonetheless, our purpose is still genuine. We're to live here and give colour to the world through our mere existence-- and occasionally fight off intruders, if history is to be relied upon.

[ Wendy will consider his words for a moment. ]

Okay. I'll give you that our purpose could be genuine. [ Re-coloring a city is a legitimate cause. She gets that. ] But my question is: how did Asgard get this way in the first place, and why can't it fix itself? Or even, you know, have the so-called gods in charge ask for help, rather than kidnap innocent people in hopes of a widespread case of Stockholm Syndrome?

History does have a habit of repeating itself, sure, so even if the intruders aren't preparing to intrude here, whatever jacked up the city of Asgard in the first place might be coming back for Round 2.

We better be on our collective guard.

This particular pantheon tends to take, rather than ask, I've found.

[ Norse: jerks of the world! He sighs to himself, removing his glasses briefly to rub the bridge of his nose. ]

How it came to this, I'm not quite sure. The best I can suggest is availing yourself of the libraries.

And I'm guessing they're awful at sharing to boot.

[ She nods. The library would be a pretty good place to check out later. She might as well while she's out ~exploring~ anyway. ]

I'll definitely do some research there, and snooping elsewhere, of course.

-- waaait, the books there aren't in...Asgardian? Norse? Not English? I mean, you seem very "intelligent professor" so I'm sure that's not a problem for you, but I am a poor art school graduate, so I'm limited to three languages; those being English, Spanish, and Spanglish.
