Right. So. It looks like more and more people are arriving every day. Have any of you tried using your erm... "gifts" yet? According to the maidservants in the castle, the gifts are the gods' way of helping us...flourish in the city. [A brief pause as he scrunches his nose.] Whatever that means.

I've been having a look 'round the city these past few days, and it looks like the maps are fairly accurate. If anyone's injured, the healer's quarters are pretty close to the castle, so you should, you know, go there if you're bleeding all over the place. [This is spoken with a pointed look. Yes, Castiel, that was directed at you.]

Anyway, that letter we all got when we arrived here? [He holds up his own copy, waving it at the screen.] It says we stay here to "preserve the world from whence you came"--sounds like there might be some consequences if we try to leave this place early, doesn't it?

Oh and Sam, Cas. I think the healers might have some of the herbs you need. Let me know when you see this.

'Gifts', huh... I can't say I have really noticed anything different about myself until now, other than the loss of my powers and magic at least.

It sounds to me like this world might have been connected to the ones we came from with our arrival. [Which kind of makes sense, in Kingdom Hearts logic at least.] All things considered, it shouldn't be surprising that one affects the other.

The maid called it "gifts"--apparently they replace your old ability with a new one, if you had one before arriving here.

[This is all pretty new to him, so excuse him while he thinks this over.] It sounds as if you know a lot about different worlds.

Healing. [A small smile lights his face.] The maidservant told me at least that much. What ability did you gain?

[Merlin absently plays with the letter.] Well, I haven't gotten around to asking them yet. They're sort of like everyone else--grey and not really there. I've volunteered for the place, so I'll have a look around once I have the chance. It's a physician's quarters, there must be something we can use.

I feel like I shouldn't ruin the surprise. But eh, you told me, so why not?

[You know, if he weren't so worried about getting back, he totally wouldn't mind staying here and learning about everyone's abilities.]

I have not attempted to use mine as of yet.

Are they selling them? How would we procure them?

Seems that way. Can't go that fast, but it still beats walking.

[ regardless, he sets himself back down. ] Haven't gotten too used to it quite yet. Might come in handy in a pinch though.

I'll say! It looks like there might be different abilities for everyone, or close to it. I wonder how it's decided...

Not selling...exactly. The healers are like the maidservants in the castle--they don't respond beyond some questions and helping the patients. I think I can look around while I'm helping around the place, maybe figure out where they get their supplies from.

As I understand, it's similar to a healing ability.

Perhaps you could simply take some.

Huh. So yours is like mine, then. Ability to heal others?

[Merlin pauses, then nods reluctantly.] That might be our only option. It's not like the healers...can help, and we wouldn't need much, right? I'd go looking for the herbs myself, but this city's just a city. No forest around here to gather supplies from.

It seems less a straight ability to heal, and more a transfer of damage.

Perhaps I could either request or have an opportunity to take them if I went under the guise of seeking treatment.

I guess there have been times I wished I could fly, but... I doubt it was any more than the regular person. You always have those moments where you just wish you could, right?

[ shrug. ] Maybe it's because I have a flighty personality.

It's worth a shot to ask what they've got, anyway. If anyone would have those kinds of herbs in stock, it would be the hospital -- if they practice the same kind of medicine you do.

[Game. On.]

A transfer--you mean you take the damage from the patient. [Hmmm. That could be helpful in a pinch. Dangerous, though.]

Could work. If I'm there helping them with patients, and you're there as a ptient, it might take less time for us to find what we're looking for.

Yes. Useful, but there are potential issues.

Potentially, yes. It could allow us ease of moving them from the building as well, with less suspicion.

[Merlin nods, storing the questions away for another day.]

Right, the...hospital, you said? That's our best bet, right now. The next place I'd look is a spice dealer, since the city's closed off, with no forest to go searching in.

[Merlin nods slowly.] If the wound's fatal, it just means the one with the ability will be dying instead. Not exactly reassuring, you know. [But he'd use it to save Arthur in a heartbeat, if that was the ability he possessed.]

Right...and it wouldn't look strange at all if we met up in the building. We'd just be doing exactly what we're supposed to.
