01 [ Video ] || Action Open to Sigyn House peeps
[ Having long perfected the art of stealth, Chane Laforet has been a silent presence on the network for a few days, now. She's gathered the information she could, done the proper exploring once the sun had set each night in this strange, grey world, and made sure to trust no one.
The communication device was unlike anything from her time or world, but was basic enough in design that she caught on after a few fumbles, that would have been more noticeable to the network had she not been a mute.
And so. A woman with short, black hair looks at the community with a determined, if slightly confused, expression, and holds up a set of FLASH CARDS, as if she's presenting a project to a bunch of colleagues. She holds up one note, which reads: ]
"I have misplaced the map I was given by the maid-woman."
[ Then shuffles it to the back, pulling out the next. ]
"Please, if anyone can reproduce something like this for me, I would appreciate it."
[ Her expression becomes slightly uncomfortable, as she's now second-guessing this entire decision. Nevertheless, she holds up another awkwardly floppy poster board. ]
"Can the people here see if some have no eyes? Some speak though I do not see their mouths."
[ And another one. This time she's holding it up in front of her face, so she doesn't have to feel as awkward... ]
"If I could be shown where to go to acquire the proper materials to arm myself,
that would be very helpful too."
[ Final note! ]
"Thank you for reading this message."
[ And she just slowly ... puts down all the notes, and sits, staring way too intensely at the video feed. She seems to be RIGHT outside the Sigyn House, so that should be recognizable enough, and is very under-dressed for the weather! ]

"I can redraw you my map?"
[ Her eyes brighten at this as she nods, hair bouncing with the movement. She pats at her throat, to gesture that she can't speak, then stares at the feed, patiently waiting. ]
"Okay! I'll give it my best shot!"
[Then he folds over the paper, and scribbles on the other side.]
"I can show you where the blacksmith is too, if you want? He makes all sorts of weapons."
She holds the paper up, her eyes peeking over it. ]
"Thank you. You are very kind. This is a very big help to me. If you could show me that, I would be very grateful."
"Only thing is, you gotta pay for the weapons, you can't just take them. The reason I got a hold of mine was 'cause my friend was an apprentice for a while."
[Another pause as he runs out of space and starts on another paper.]
"For a while they were free, though! There was this big dragon that came and attacked the city! So they gave out weapons to fight it."
A dragon?
Her thoughts go immediately to her Father, and how fascinated he'd be.
Then they take a more logical turn: Attacked the City? Did people die? Will it come back? How will she protect herself, let alone others?
Her pen starts on the paper, and seems to linger, as she stares down at it thoughtfully for a moment. Then, after a few hurried movements of her wrist, she holds up the notepad to the video feed once more. ]
"Did this dragon kill people? Are there more of them? Was it killed?"
"I didn't hear about a lot of people dying. Just lots of fires, and a bunch of people were hurt. It really caught us all by surprise, but a bunch of us want to be ready next time something crazy like this happens."
[A pause, remembering how new this person probably is.]
"Sorry. It's kind of a lot to take in, huh?"
"It's fine. I appreciate you being honest, even about the bad news. I hope I'm not bothering you."
[ Maaaaybe Jacuzzi had rubbed off on her a bit. ]
"Don't mention it. Everybody helped me a bunch when I got here too. And you deserve to know the truth. The gods who tossed us here weren't exactly truthful, even when they're the ones who wanted our help. I can catch you up on what we learned so far too, if you want?"
She leans in closer to the camera, nodding as enthusiastically as Chane can nod. Her hand's moving off screen, and the writing sounds can be heard, though her eye contact never breaks from the video. She pulls up the papers: ]
"Please if you could that would be very kind."
[ No time for proper punctuation! ]
"The most important things I remember was that color wasn't the only reason they brought us here. They brought us here to fight. 'Cause if nobody stops this big war that's gonna happen, all the worlds are gonna end. Something called Ragnarok. The worlds are gonna be remade, but only a few of us are gonna make it."
"If we don't stop it, nobody will."
She's writing as she's thinking about all of this, then brings up the paper.]
"Will you fight?"
"I can't turn down people who need help. If these gods wanna play mind games, that's their business. I'm gonna do what I can for everybody else. We're all in this together. And we'll get out of it just the same."
"I will help people too. Your name?"
"Sora!
What's yours?"
"Chane. It's nice to meet you, Sora."
[ She turns the paper over, writing a bit more. ]
"If you could show me where the blacksmith resides
I would be very grateful.
I will try to find a way to repay you."
And sure I can take you. Where are you right now? I can drop by and show you the way."
"I think I will be getting food right now. I have been assigned to the House called Sigyn, I believe."
[ She shows him the message, then starts on a new one: ]
"Would you show me tomorrow?"
"Sounds like a plan! Just gimme a call when you're ready?"
She won't forget this kindness! ]
"Lemme know if you need anything else. See you then!"
