After this.

[The video is steady at first, but only for a few seconds because he's trying to tip something up.

Then he's leaning back, to make sure he can get the box into the shot.]

Anyone else get chocolate?

... Anyone who doesn't want theirs?

[Then, he drops the box, turns the bracelet and grins at the screen, niiiice and wide.]

[Gaara isn't very fond of sweets... but Naruto must have a preference for it, if he's asking. Granted, with so many offers...]

Don't consume too much of it, Naruto.

[All the offers. He is going to be as high as a kite.]

Huh? Why not. You tasted it yet?

[That's one of his concerns. Just imagining Naruto filled with all of that sugar and energy... it's enough to make him wary.]

Excessive sugar can have negative effects on your health. If you require energy, there are better alternatives.

[One day, he will learn to not formal-speak. Maybe.]

[SURPRISED THAT GAARA ISN'T HOLED UP INSIDE? Though he's still avoiding people, for the most part.]

Near the lake. ~~It is where Temari used to train.~~ Do you need the chocolate right now?

[... No. He doesn't want to not eat more chocolate though, either.]

'Course I am! I eat all the time.

[Which is proper, right?]

I'm comin' over. Whether you got the chocolate or not.

[Mostly, because it's been a while since he'd seen his friend... and he has a feeling he knows why.]

My emphasis was on a "proper" diet, Naruto. As in, nutritionally balanced.

[Meaning, more than just ramen binges. And chocolate. And those other sweet items Naruto mentioned eating in that food review. Not that Gaara eats entirely healthy himself, but his siblings aren't around to nag him about it.

He doesn't have the chocolate on hand, though even he realizes that there is an ulterior motive to Naruto's visit.]

Oh! Yeah, I eat vegetables. Don't worry!

[He still eats a metric fuckton of the other stuff, but it's totally counterbalanced. Yep yep.

Gaara's response is a pleasing one, and even his happiness will show in the way he pipes up.]

Awesome! I'll be right there!

[Without being fully conscious of it, he types back something that he might not, normally.]

I am proud of you.

[It reminds him of something that Temari would say... and he sighs, unseen, relieved to be alone for just a few minutes longer.]

Are you capable of climbing a tree without usage of chakra?

[Gaara's message makes him pause, and finally smile down at the words. Not that he says anything, but he sends a video in response.

Yep, he'd just casually decided to climb up the nearest tree to prove a point.]

You're kiddin' right? I've been climbin' trees since I was a kid!

[Point well made, Naruto. After watching that, Gaara smirks a little, in irony.]

I wasn't aware. It is still an adjustment, for shinobi not to have access to chakra.

[And he had to use his power to get up on the branch he's currently at, okay. He's not as athletic as most other shinobi.]

Come to the lake. I will call your attention to the specific tree that I am located on.

[He's still grinning, whether he can see the look on Gaara's face or not.]

Jumpin' around on the rooftops was a pretty easy way to run from angry villagers.

[There's still that grin on his face, and even as he speaks, he jumps down again, giving Gaara a nod.

The feed ends there, and he makes his way to the lake instead, spending some time trying to locate the Kazekage.]

[...And Gaara is back to linefacing. Seriously, Naruto? He has to wonder what his friend did to incite their wrath...

He waits for a few minutes, keeping an eye on his surroundings to await his arrival. Once he catches sight of that familiar blond hair, Gaara sends a small trail of tiny flakes in his direction. They will lead him to the correct tree to climb up, where he is calmly seated and overlooking the lake.]

[Oops.

He did a lot of things... but that's all in the past now, isn't it?

The flakes catch his attention quickly, and he grins as he follows them, peering up into the tree and making a start of climbing up. Whatever branch it is that Gaara chose to sit on, he swings off, hooking both legs around it and spending a little time hanging upside down.]

Hey.

Whoa!

Nah, I'm good. It's good.

[Just try not to do it here… Stay away from microwaves, for example.]

Naruto. [He greets quietly, and quirks a brow at him for dangling upside down.] Are you playing a game?

[And then, when Naruto cries out in alarm, Gaara reacts instantaneously. He sends out a slick path of ice to curl below his head, to prevent him from falling down to the ground. He doesn’t retract it, not even when Naruto claims that he’s all right.]

Hmph… You must exercise more caution.

[Shut up about microwaves.]

Hey!

[He's still smiling, even after he wobbles. The moment of fear is gone, and he'd only have landed awkwardly if he'd fallen... he'd have been fine. Right? ~~Someone would heal him up~~.]

Nah, just thought I'd try an' scare ya.

[His grin widens as he reaches for the tree branches between his legs, hoisting himself up and managing ~~somehow~~ not to fly over the other side of it.]

You scared I was gonna fall?

[There’s a subtle twitch in Gaara’s brow as he glares at him in silence for a full minute. Before he can give into the brief urge to hit Naruto in the head with it, he pulls the icicle path back into his hand.]

For what purpose? [Why in the world would Naruto want to scare him? They aren’t enemies. He’s going to watch Naruto very carefully as he straightens himself up on the tree branch, as if expecting him to suddenly fall again.]

You express humor in an interesting manner. [His emphasis indicating that he doesn’t find any amusement in it.]

[Eventually he ends up straddling the tree branch, both hands holding on whilst he faces Gaara, the smile fades however - mostly because he can see, very clearly that Gaara is not impressed by being 'scared'.]

Well, it's just funny to see the look on your face.

If-- you know you didn't look so... mad.

[He sighs, taps on the tree branch a few times, leaning over to stare at the floor.]

What're you doin' here anyway?

[He might be a little more accepting of it if he was in a different mood. Not now, however.

But at hearing those words, Gaara eases his expression – just a bit, hopefully enough to not appear upset.] I am not angry. [Because if he was angry, that icicle would have smacked Naruto right in his head. On purpose.] Merely… concerned.

[He turns his head to look out over the lake, and answers quietly.] This location is peaceful. I come here on occasion. [To be alone, to think.]

[Naruto can tell. It's why he settles much more quickly once Gaara has spoken up about his concern. There's that look on his face and-- well, okay he gets it.

He'd known Gaara wasn't 'right' and hadn't been for a while, and he could hazard a guess why. Maybe his antics had meant to cheer Gaara up but...]

It looks nice.

[He's not sure what else to say, really - just look at Gaara for a moment after studying the lake briefly.]

Can't just sit out here all day though, right?

[Sorry, Naruto. If Gaara was normal, he would find that funny. His sense of humor – assuming he even has one – would be pretty twisted compared to everyone else.]

Bodies of water like this… they aren’t common in the Land of Wind. [Brief pause.] Is this setting reminiscent of the Leaf?

[He shakes his head.] That isn’t my intention. I have already completed my work shift for the day, as well as training. I… [He falls quiet, unsure of how to continue.]

…Naruto. Are we certain that… the ones who departed from this city, have returned to their home worlds?

There's a river that runs through the village, an' then the training grounds have that little lake, but there's a huge lake a little further away...

I guess there's a bunch of them?

[He shrugs all the same, turning his head to watch Gaara - listening quietly. Work, and training - that meant it was pretty much time to eat some food and maybe take a nap?

Except there's a question like that - and he can't really say he knows how Gaara is feeling. He knows a few people who had left, and equally a few who had returned. So...]

I reckon they do. Some people turn up again and they have more memories, y'know?

I dunno how it works though.
