[ ohay asgard, ever seen the look of someone who's literally just gotten out of bed and scrambled to check the bracelet? because now you have. and he looks awful. if it was possible to look sleep deprived after what he's sure was the longest night (or maybe even multiple nights) of sleep he's ever had. of course, it wasn't just a normal sleep -- hence the franticness of everything he's doing right now.

it's a bit uncharacteristic, but jackson's had the video feed running for a minute or so as he stares at everything in disbelief. it might be the look of a newcomer if it wasn't for the fact that he's in his room at Thor and he doesn't look surprised at the network itself, but at the fact that it's still here. ]

I don't know if anyone— [ dreamt they were back home? no, no, that wouldn't work. what if no one knows what he's talking about. ]

I need someone — anyone — to tell me what day it is. [ his words are coming out too fast and he takes a deep breath to steady himself. ]

And what's the last thing that you remember happening here? I don't mean like you just waking up and getting food, but something major.

Whatever it was, I need to know now.

What kind of major? [Things have been pretty busy here.]

Do you remember the fighting?

The battle? [ unless there's been a second one and woah he'd have been gone a long time. ]

Yeah, I was there for that. Nothing's happened since?

[She looks down at her hands.]

Freyr's gone and so is Freya.

[If he remembers those, then it hasn't been missing that long. If not...]

The gods. [ he nods his head because yeah, he remembers that. it'd been a big deal — kind of hard to forget in a way. ]

One of them died, right?

[Her lips tremble a little and she looks even more downcast. Losing the patron of her house had felt sad, even if that had only lasted for a short amount of time. She'd liked Freyr.]

He helped us win the battle. After that, his sister left because she wanted to find him.

[ oh, rue. no one wants to see a little girl look sad. :c even jackson's feeling sympathetic, although how apparent it is may have a little more to do with what he "remembers" than he realizes. ]

There was a festival after that. Some winter thing. [ let's remember happier-ish things? ]

[That doesn't exactly bring a smile to her face, but at least she isn't looking so unhappy anymore.]

It was just a few days ago. Not really long.

[She stares at him curiously.] Is that the last thing you remember?

Yeah. I went back to my room for the night and I thought I was asleep.

[ but. was that it, though? hard to tell in a city filled with gods and goddesses who do what they want. ]

You didn't miss a lot.

[Now that she's answered his main question, she just fidgets with some trinkets off screen.]

Did you turn gray? One of my friends did that last time.

[That's usually what happens when people go missing, so she just assumes it's the same for him.]

No. [ furrowing his eyebrows because he considered it too. ]

I've had that happen before and I didn't come back with weird memories that time.

[Now that's something new.]

Weird memories?

[This is a little more important than asking what being gray feels like.]

Or just something that felt like a memory. It felt like I was there until I woke up.

[ how does he explain that without sounding nuts??? ]

Like you were home? Maybe you went back and got brought here again.

Sometimes that happens...

[She's still holding out for certain people to return.]

But I didn't end up back in the same room with the creepy nurse. And everything in my room was still exactly how I remembered it.

[ not too sure if you want to take his case as one of hope, rue :c ]

Maybe you got lucky.

[Really, really lucky.]

Lots of things disappear when people go home.

Yeah, maybe.

Do the things go back with the people?

Sometimes. I got things from my friends when they left before, too.

If your friends didn't get anything maybe you turned a special kind of grey.
