D482 // Video - Group project

[The shuffling of papers and some sort of metallic object getting the last few details hammered into it could be heard in the background before a few friendly faces appeared on the screen.]

Buon pomeriggio Asgard!

Aladdin, Tony Stark and I have been working on a project for a few weeks now and I think we are to the stage where we could use some help with it. That is if anyone interested in a light weight armor with the added protection of runes? We could use a few volunteers to test the design.

We need people with all sorts of different shapes and body types for this. It's important to get all information we can so this will work.

[Aladdin says over his shoulder, he is doing a few last minute checks on the rune work.]

Si, just as he says. So would any of you be willing?
bythewaves: (second greatest singer)

everyone is happy!

[ Maglor keeps track of everyone's reactions to his age, it's most amusing. ]

I do not think so - at the least, we do not seem that closely akin - the language is different, for one thing. Oh there are similarities, of course - I have been working with Master Dumbledore to do some translation work - but no more than you might expect for folk with similar cultures and tastes. A turn of phrase that is almost alike, a word or five that sound almost familiar... and so on.

[ A small wry shrug ] Aye, one does. I have watched Men rise and fall and rise again, even as the star of the Eldar fades.

teach him Leonardo Sempai <3

Ah, your pardon, my brothers always said I was overly fond of flowery phrases. No, tis nothing so severe as that. But the time of the Elves is passing - it is the Age of Men, now. My people are leaving the shores of Middle-earth, sailing West to Elvenhome, never to return, or like the dwarves, retreating deep into their hidden strongholds.

Soon, within a few generations, we will fade to myth and legend, and perhaps in time I will be the last, and we will be only fairy tales told to children. But Arda is young yet - the Dagor Dagorath - the Final Battle, is not yet at hand. What of your world, Master Leonardo?
bythewaves: (harp)

yes! they can sit around tea and wine and talk at each other endlessly

[personal profile] bythewaves 2014-08-06 08:50 am (UTC)(link)
We are Eldar [ Maglor shrugs a little ] So long as Arda is, so we are also, bound to her for as long as she endures. But... to live too long in Middle-earth is to grow weary, as with a great burden. Eventually, all but a very few, I think, will Sail.

[ He listens eagerly to Leonardo's description, drinking it down as a man does who has been given his first glass of water in a desert ]

Mm, an age of discovery tis always a fine thing. I am glad to know that it remains safe, however. What are they like, your cities?
bythewaves: (noldolante)

... he would probably love the workshop, it'd remind him of home ;A;

[personal profile] bythewaves 2014-08-07 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
[ Maglor nibbles on his lip slightly, looking for the right words to explain ]

It... We do not age as Men, physically - not unless our souls are wearied and deeply scarred. But for us, injuries to fea - soul, I suppose, or spirit - do not heal as easily as those to hroa - flesh, certainly not as easily as Men seem to. We... it is possible for us to die of grief, if the wound to the spirit is deep enough. And in the lands of Middle-earth, grief is inevitable. War and killing, the loss of friends, the change of time... we cannot forget, and all such griefs mark us. Eventually, the wear of years will tell on our hearts and souls, even, they say, in time our bodies also. The only cure for that is Elvenhome.

[ He shrugs - he is weary, himself, but he is Feanorion, he will not Fade. They are all notoriously stubborn ]

They sound lovely, your cities - grand ladies. I would like to see them, one day. Venezia in particular! A city on the water, how lovely! Which is your home?
bythewaves: (weary)

haha, its the bustle and the crowd that he misses...

[personal profile] bythewaves 2014-08-09 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
It is what it is. [ Maglor shrugs, and if he suddenly looks a lot older, and a lot more tired than he normally does... well. He is a good actor, but some times (he has lived so long, and seen so much already)... ] So long as there is joy enough to balance out the sorrows...

[ A smile, and the shadows are tucked back into their corners ]

Well that might be said of many places eh? And I suppose if a place is lived in enough it certainly becomes a home of sorts. Does your heart call you to any place in particular? Although I suppose with cities so fair as you describe it might be difficult to choose!
bythewaves: (noldolante)

apparently I really needed this CR and just never knew it?

[personal profile] bythewaves 2014-08-12 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
[ Pain flashes bright in his eyes at that, the weight of years and countless griefs, and the soul-deep knowledge that he can never go home but he smiles, and it is a brittle thing, but it is a smile, of sorts ]

If I had the ability to return to it, aye I suppose that would be true. These days Asgard is as much home to me as any place, for the road home is closed to me.

Your home sounds lovely Master Leonardo - a perfect place for sitting and being, and also for inspiration, eh?
bythewaves: (regard)

damn you maglor you're supposed to be emo stop making friends with everyone

[personal profile] bythewaves 2014-08-13 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
[ Maglor shakes his head, putting his shadows back into their corners ]

No, tis not your fault - you did not know. Ah, truly? I would not mind at all. I never had a skill for painting - that gift when to my cousins and brothers - but I would love to see the hand of a master again.
bythewaves: (smile)

oops? XD

[personal profile] bythewaves 2014-08-14 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
[ Maglor smiles back, and bows ]

Then I shall treat it as one, my thanks Master Leonardo! The tea, at least, I can aid with - have you a preference for type?
bythewaves: (shall I play something)

how odd XD

[personal profile] bythewaves 2014-08-16 08:25 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, all good choices - I will have a look at the selection Alice keeps and see which might suit!

[ He never knew there were so many flavours, Middle-earth has been sorely deprived! ]

Aye, will a few days from now suit?
bythewaves: (shall I play something)

do you want to play any of this out or handwave it?

[personal profile] bythewaves 2014-08-17 10:40 am (UTC)(link)
Then I will look forwards to it, Master Leonardo!
