[He had heavily debated on if he wanted to turn on the video feed, all things considered. His head was still pretty foggy and he was struggling to grasp the fact that he had disappeared for ten full days.

No, correction. He'd blown himself up on camera and then disappeared for ten full days. Urgh. How embarrassing.

He first took the time to sift through the messages left on his bracelet, baffled by the sheer amount of information (and slightly amused/unsettled. Davesprite what is wrong with you.) Then he realized there were several responses to his original message before the disaster struck.

…he was fucked, wasn't he? Alas, he knew he couldn't keep hiding so the best method was to be as nonchalant as possible. That meant showing his face whether he wanted to or not.

When the feed flickers on anyone watching will see a boy who looks sort of like he was hit by the Knight Bus. His hair's messy, there are bags under his eyes and there's the slightest hint of a five o'clock shadow on his chin.]

…hey. [Yes, Draco. After all this time, the most you can do is say hey.] Three things.

First of all, how many of you from that large influx of people are still here?

Two, what's the state of my apothecary?

And three, I'm in desperate need of an aspirin.

…oh, and four. If the gods would just allow for a little more freedom in alchemy…[He'll just grumble to himself.] I'm not done tweaking that formula, so I don't want to hear it. We're pretending nothing happened, understand? Just so we're clear.

No, I was sort of just hoping maybe the answer was different and that you were actually just a figment of my imagination. Out of everything I have to deal with upon returning, seeing you wasn't exactly something else I needed.

Yes, well, I couldn't keep your mother around, so you ended up with me instead. You aren't my first choice for someone to see when I turn on this thing, either. But here we are.

[There is a noticeable pause.]

[It's easy to snap back, and to not give details, because the last thing Harry wants to give is details.]

[Eventually. But he doesn't want to say that. That would imply that he spoke to her for a long time, and while he did, he doesn't want that to be obvious.]

She mistook me for my father. Why would she know who Harry Potter was?

[She wouldn't. It just makes him feel better knowing that if Narcissa didn't recognize her own son, surely she wouldn't recognize the boy who lived.]

Wondering why she bothered with you at all then. That's all.

I offered to help her after she looked familiar.

You can drop it, Potter. Your hero complex isn't really needed or wanted in Asgard. [Not by him, anyway. Fuck what everybody else wants. It's hard, guys. It's hard and nobody understands.]

[Well. That's sort of true. It's a combination of the world not revolving around Draco and the fact that he was starting to make a little headway with Hermione before Potter and Weasley showed up.]

[He catches the "Hermione." Just how close were they? Harry feels vaguely irrational at the curiosity, and he knows that's not right ... or fair. But it's hard to stifle that feeling.]

[Given the "Hermione," though, there's a bit less heat in his voice. Just a touch.]

[There's an irritated snort following that statement.]

And what the hell makes you think you're going to be the exception this time?

[He doesn't have a good answer to that, because how can he know for sure?]

I asked to be here.

[But that seems to work well enough for him.]

[...wait a sec.]

And why would you do that? Don't you have other wars to finish and other people to save or some other stupid martyring things?

I thought you knew already how that ended.

Besides, I've been told that being here doesn't affect that. And since I've helped that, I'm not going to let a war here go unfought when it could change all that we've fought to save.
