[ it's been a few weeks since miss red text actually posted anything. partially because she's been preoccupied - the coming of the creatures, more people dying.. and her inability to do anything to help was more than a little frustrating. she hadn't been in any mood to converse, though she kept up her usual monitoring of things.

but hey, it might be good to say something. ]

every time it seems like we'll get a break, something happens. there was that festival .. and then the creatures. and people died. isn't it bad enough we're fighting a war on one front, rather than two?

i'd take thiazi over whatever those gentleman things were, any day.

[ oops, that sounds an awful lot like whining. ]

has everyone recovered?

because given how things have been going lately, we ought to be on our guard.

I'm afraid I missed the... gentleman things, though by all accounts that makes me one of the lucky few. Being on our guard is never bad advice, especially since some catastrophe seems to happen roughly every two weeks or less.

Really? The pattern seems fairly obvious to me, though I believe the gentlemen fell a little outside it. Which I suppose just goes to show you that we should never allow ourselves to grow complacent.

yes. the last thing we need is a surprise attack that takes us all out. if the gentleman were a sign of how bad things could be - they can get worse.

True... perhaps we ought to start planning little trips out of the city, instead of just taking them where they're offered. That way it would be much harder to take out every one of us in a single attack.

perhaps move those most vulnerable, and a guard to protect them just in case.

Why not Utgard? Or any one of the several other friendly or otherwise neutral kingdoms that seem to surround us here in Asgard. It's worked the past two times we've been attacked, hasn't it? Both times, some of us were out of the city while horrible things were going on here. I doubt that will continue to work so effectively, and perhaps the bad guys will find a way to attack us more directly eventually... but there's no reason, at this time, to think that it won't continue to work for now.

[This is at best a temporary solution, he's painfully aware of that, but sometimes temporary solutions are all you can hope for... especially in war.]

i wonder if that might make those who leave more vulnerable, however. and we don't know how utgard will be affected, or if they want to becoming involved. thiazi might pull them into it.

It hasn't so far, but I wasn't intending to imply that they would be perfectly safe. We will of course have to remain cautious, no matter what measures we take in our attempts to thwart Thiazi and her thralls.

But so long as her efforts are concentrated here, there's every chance it will work. The people who left the city for Vanaheim when Thiazi used her power to Corrupt us felt none of the effects we did.

that's true. it's worth looking into. the politics of it might be complicated.

i wonder if thiazi's power could only extend as far as here.
